Structural Project Engineer | Urbandale, IAJoin IMEG as a Structural Project Engineer in Urbandale, Iowa, where you’ll lead design efforts and collaborate with senior staff to deliver innovative structural solutions for buildings and other structures. As a key member of our Structural team, you’ll manage low to moderate complexity projects, support larger initiatives, and provide engineering analysis, design, and implementation oversight. Advance your career by working on impactful projects and mentoring cross-functional teams in a dynamic, client-focused environment.Principal ResponsibilitiesLead design efforts for the analysis and design of structural systems using engineering software and tools in accordance with code requirements and IMEG teract with clients to gather project requirements, communicate technical information, and build strong professional relationships.Support project execution by planning, budgeting, scheduling, and documenting design decisions while monitoring progress and fee expenditure.Analyze engineering problems, propose innovative solutions, and collaborate with senior engineers and consultants.Conduct in-process design reviews and implement IMEG quality control processes to ensure compliance with industry and client standards.Stay current with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in structural engineering; contribute to research and innovation.Prioritize safety and ethical conduct in all engineering work.Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver integrated solutions that meet project goals.Identify potential project problems and seek guidance from the Project Manager.Oversee projects from conception through construction, including developing designs, construction documents, and participating in construction administration duties such as reviewing submittals, RFIs, and conducting site observations.Required Qualifications and SkillsBachelor of Science (BS) Degree in Civil, Structural, or Architectural Engineering, or equivalent, requiredMaster’s Degree (MS) in Structural Engineering preferredProfessional Engineer (PE) License preferredStructural Engineer (SE) License and/or passed the Structural Engineer (SE) Exam required5 years of experience minimum required, 6 preferred, in the building design consulting industryProficiency in design techniques, tools, and concepts involved in the production of technical plans and specificationsStrong technical and analytical skills including proficiency of principles in mechanics and materials, load paths, design techniques, design standards including steel, concrete, wood, masonry, and concepts involved in structural systems of buildings and structuresStrong training and mentoring skillsProficiency of industry standard engineering software and tools including structural engineering design and analysis softwareExcellent communication and interpersonal skills; Ability to clearly communicate in both oral and written communication to individuals or groupsAbility to work collaboratively in a team environment and demonstrate effective team building skillsAttention to detail and problem-solving skillsEagerness to adapt to new challengesProficiency in the use of Building Information Model softwareProficient with MS Office Suite including but not limited to Word, Excel, and OutlookAbility to travel up to 15% with occasional overnight stays This position is not eligible for sponsorship.Salary Range $92,000 - $123, 000 depending on experience.Why Join UsIMEG puts people first—with a strong focus on career growth, work-life balance, and meaningful impact.
