Purchasing Manager

JOB DESCRIPTION We are seeking a detail-oriented and strategic Purchasing Manager to oversee our company’s procurement activities. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing supplier relationships, negotiating contracts, and ensuring the timely acquisition of goods and services at the best possible cost and quality. Key Responsibilities Leadership & Team Development: oLead, mentor, and motivate the purchasing team to achieve departmental and organizational goals. oFoster a culture of continuous improvement, accountability, and professional growth within the team. oIdentify training needs and support career development opportunities for team members. Strategic Procurement Management: oCollaborate closely with cross-functional teams (e.g., production, finance, planning) to anticipate procurement needs and manage inventory levels effectively. oDevelop and implement procurement strategies that align with company objectives and drive cost savings. oPromote cross-functional collaboration to ensure procurement plans meet operational demands. Supplier & Stakeholder Engagement: oGuide the team in building and maintaining strong supplier relationships, ensuring reliability and quality. oAct as the escalation point for supplier issues and lead negotiations for critical contracts including terms, pricing, and service level agreements, to secure favorable conditions and mitigate risks. oEstablish key performance indicators (KPIs) for supplier performance and procurement processes; analyze data to drive continuous improvement. Process Optimization & Performance Monitoring: oOversee procurement workflows to improve efficiency, compliance, and risk mitigation. oEstablish and monitor KPIs to assess team performance and supplier effectiveness. Risk & Compliance Oversight: oEnsure procurement activities comply with company policies, ethical standards, and regulatory requirements. oLead efforts to identify supply chain risks and develop contingency plans. Background and Skills Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related discipline; MBA or professional certification (e.g., CPSM, CIPS) is a plus. Minimum of 8 years of progressive experience in purchasing or procurement management, preferably within the manufacturing space. Proven expertise in strategic sourcing, contract negotiation, and supplier relationship management.
