JOB REQUIREMENTS: Position Description: Advanced Practice Nurse-Outpatient 1 Provides primary or specialty health care services withindefined scope of practice in collaboration with a licensed physician andin accordance with MCW/FMLH/CHW policies and procedures. PhysicianAssistant- Outpatient 1 Provides primary or specialty medical carewithin defined scope of practice under the supervision of a licensedphysician and in accordance with MCW/FMLH/CHW policies and procedures.Department Position Purpose Deliver comprehensive, specialty specifichealth care to pulmonary patients as directed by a licensed physicianand in accordance with policies and procedures. Core ResponsibilitiesPerforms comprehensive histories and physical exams, identifies normaland abnormal findings, including physical, cognitive and psychosocialstatus. Orders and interprets laboratory and diagnostic tests. Developspharmaceutical and non-pharmaceutical treatment plans. Monitorseffectiveness of plan of care. Educates patients on disease andtreatment plans. Performs procedures as trained and appropriatelycredentialed. Documents within the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) andcompletes other necessary documents. Collaborates and/or consults withphysicians and other health care providers as appropriate. Educates,counsels, and assists patients and families regarding current healthproblems, health maintenance activities and preventive behaviors.Perform other duties as assigned. Department Specific ResponsibilitiesExamine, treat and document care of patients with pulmonary disorderswho are hospitalized. Support & assist with our growing InterventionalProcedures program which has grown to 3 faculty. Includes care ofpatients in clinic including providing test/biopsy results, andscheduling follow-up visits while improving access for providers to seenew patients. Teach and educate patient families. Instruct medicalstudents, residents and affiliated health professionals (e.g. nurses,respiratory technicians, sleep technicians, referring providers) in avariety of pulmonary disorders, procedures and therapies. Participate inquality assurance activities within the Pulmonary division. Participatein research objectives and activities within the Pulmonary division asappropriate. Execute administrative duties applicable to the NP/PA rolewithin the division. Serve on committees within the DOP, CW, or CSG aspertains to the division or for the benefit of the provider's careergoals.
