Activities will include developing newprocesses, performing hardened depth measurements, ratingmicrostructures, and writing work instructions. Other activities includedata analysis for process control and quality improvements. This onsiteposition will be based at our South Harbor location in Milwaukee'sHarbor District. The target start date for this role is Summer 2026 andhas potential to be extended into the Fall 2026 school semester. Weoffer full-time hours during the summer and flexible part-time hoursduring the academic year. Key Job Responsibilities Help develop and testnew recipes for low pressure carburizing (LPC) furnace Partner with teammembers from other parts of the organization for process or qualityimprovement projects Test production samples for load verification usingstandard metallurgical lab equipment Support troubleshooting quality andprocess issues while learning the equipment and processes Implement planfor system accuracy tests (SAT) on equipment Create work instructionsfor induction harden, salt bath, and carburizing process equipmentSupport lean manufacturing/continuous improvement projectsQualifications/Requirements Pursuing a bachelor's or advanced degree inMaterials Science and Engineering or Metallurgy, or similar, from anaccredited college or university Sophomore, Junior, Senior, or master'slevel student in good academic standing Ability to work independently aswell as part of a team towards a goal Excellent organization andpersonal time management skills, ability to handle multiple tasks Strongwritten and verbal communication skills Possess effective problemsolving and critical thinking skills; ability to be creative andresourceful when needed Preferred Skills Experience with data analysisand statistics Basic understanding of ferrous microstructures Basicunderstanding of heat treatment processes such as induction,carburizing, neutral hardening Hiring Range At Komatsu, your base pay isone part of your total compensation package.
