The Dental AssistantGraduate Prosthodontics provides assistance to dental students,patients, faculty and staff in the Dental School, primarily in theGraduate Program, and provides instruction to dental students andpatients in accordance with the Clinic Operations Manual and standardsof care in Dentistry. Duties and Responsibilities Provide dentalassistance and instruction to students before, during and aftertreatment of patients including dental emergencies as per the ClinicOperations Manual. Instruct dental students in four-handed dentistryconcepts and practices. Assist dental student and faculty withcompliance to record keeping protocols related to the treatment ofpatients. Maintain and monitor accepted practices and care of dentalequipment, instruments and supplies per MUSOD standards, and regulatorygroup requirements. Assist with the coordination of student activitiesand evaluation of compliance to practice standards. Distribute, assistand monitor instrument and equipment management and case cart system.Coordinate the repair and maintenance of dental equipment. Provideback-up support for the group coordinator including answering phones,scheduling appointments and handling patient records and other computerrelated duties. Attend in-service programs, group and dental assistantmeetings and other various committee meetings as required. RequiredKnowledge, Skills and Abilities High School education plus one yeardental assistant experience required including knowledge of dentalterminology and anatomy; regulator agency requirements; 4-handeddentistry; instrumentation; impression materials and cements; x-raytechnology and procedures; sterilization procedures; patient managementtechniques; and Health-Care Provider CPR .
