In addition to receiving a competitive wage, the Engineering Intern will enhance their skill set by working among a talented and technically accomplished group of colleagues while enjoying a flexible work environment where contributions are recognized and rewarded.What you’ll experience:Technologies that are top-notchA team of bold thinkers committed to exploring what’s nextOpportunities to gain new knowledgeWhat sets you apart:Creative, innovative responsibilities requiring advanced decision-making skillsTeam player who thrives in collaborative environments and revels in team success, meeting and exceeding personal and team commitmentsCommitment to ongoing professional development***This is an onsite/in-person internship based in St. Petersburg, FL during the dates of May 18th to August 6th, 2026***Essential Functions:Will undertake, initially, a range of administrative and support tasks for the Large Caliber Ammunition Engineering departmentThese tasks will provide the opportunity to apply basic Engineering skills in a highly active environmentBased on experience and abilities the intern will be assigned tasks of increasing complexity that are appropriate to the level of education and skillsAs part of the intern position the department will have the opportunity to get to know the candidate and their suitability for potential future position within the companyThe right candidate should be able to demonstrate the required skills, enthusiasm and interest in the Engineering aspects the large caliber ammunition business together with an aptitude for working with various internal and external customers to achieve assigned tasksProvides support to technical employees working in an organizational function related to the Intern's area of studySupports equipment set up and monitors tests and experimentsObserves results, collects data, and compiles summaries and reportsLearns technical processes and proceduresJob shadows other more experienced professionals and or support staffMay also support the documentation and updates of procedures or work instructionsRequired Qualifications:Required education and experience: Must be currently enrolled majoring in Engineering Quality, Mechanical, Manufacturing, Chemical and/or similar technical degree program or be within 6 months of graduation; No prior experience needed.Preferred Qualifications:Knowledge, skills & abilities: Ability to work as part of a team. Oral and written communication skills. Attentiveness. Ability to understand and follow directions.Physical Requirements:Must be able to remain in a stationary position at a desk and/or computer for extended periods of time.Requires regular movement throughout GD-OTS facilities.May need to stand for long periods of time.Work primarily in a climate-controlled environment with minimal safety/health hazard potential.This position is Safety-Sensitive.Travel Requirements:No or very little travel likely.
