Description Utility Lines Construction Services Job Title: Overhead Distribution C Lineperson Job Description: A entry-level line worker that installs and fixes overhead distribution and transmission systems, which includes poles, cables, and electrical systems. Line Workers also fit, repair, and maintain underground cables and electrical equipment. Pay: u2022 Competitive/Hourly u2013 Discussed During Interview Process Primary responsibilities: u2022 Installing transformers, lightening arrestors, cutouts, crossarms, insulators, switches, and switchgear u2022 Setting poles and anchors, stringing overhead wire, proper sagging techniques u2022 Troubleshooting trouble in primary and secondary systems. u2022 Replacing cutout fuses and clearing faulted circuits and systems. u2022 Ability to solve problems with unidentified circumstances on any particular job. u2022 Ensure daily testing and inspection of assigned tools and equipment. u2022 Will have contact with public and private property owners to professionally communi-cate work to be performed. u2022 Maintain company equipment in a safe and efficient manner. u2022 General duties related to the installation of overhead power supply. u2022 Perform new construction, maintenance or repair work of energized and de-energized overhead line work following company established Safety and Health standards. u2022 All other duties as required or requested by Supervisors. u2022 Reports all potential equipment and crew safety hazards to Foreperson Minimum qualification: u2022 Ability and specific skill to work with energized high voltage systems u2022 Must possess strong communication skills both written and spoken. u2022 Ability to work with and around heavy equipment. u2022 Must have knowledge of proper sagging techniques u2022 Ability to install and remove a service u2022 May be able to identify primary and secondary voltage. u2022 Knowledge on tying in a primary conductor, phasing a circuit through a substation and identify induced voltage. u2022 Must have some knowledge of checking voltage on transformers, one shot on a re-closer and grounding procedures. u2022 May have some understanding of flag and tag procedures. u2022 May be able to identify different materials used in linework. u2022 Must have some understanding of Kellum grips and phasing sticks. u2022 Must have some knowledge of load break tool and reconductoring job. u2022 Must have some proven previous Overhead Maintenance experience. u2022 Must have some knowledge of trenching and shoring, rigging, hand lines, and line-man knot tying and making and using a hand line u2022 Must have some knowledge of assisting hooking up a single or three phase trans-formers. u2022 May be able to inspect/use proper cover up. u2022 Must have some knowledge of minimum approach distance. u2022 May be capable of bucket rescue. u2022 Must have some knowledge of safely installing and removing a mechanical jumper. u2022 May be able to climb different structures and possess the tools to do the climb. u2022 Must be able to identify, operate and service all required tools and equipment. (i.e., bucket truck, digger derrick truck, tensioners, puller, rollers, hand tamp, chain saw, concrete saw, shovel) u2022 May be able to operate and service all required tools and equipment. u2022 Must be able to work long hours and overtime during holidays, emergencies, week-ends, etc. Education and experience: u2022 Must have a minimum of 1 - 2 years of experience in the electrical power line con-struction industry. u2022 Be able to provide proof of work experience, schooling, and any certifications that you have obtained during your career. Traveling requirements: u2022 Must be willing to travel out of state for emergency storm work. Driver License: u2022 Valid Drivers License is preferred, if not must be able to discuss during the interview proess. u2022 Valid CDL is preferred or willingness to obtain valid CDL within 90 days of employ-ment. If unable to obtain, please discuss this during the interview process. Safety: u2022 Due to the inherently dangerous nature of the industry and requirements to work with or around hazardous equipment, employees must have sufficient eyesight to judge distance/coordination of equipment and tools, be able to maintain attention and con-centration for extended periods of time, be able to withstand exposure to all kinds of weather while completing work assignments, be able to wear personal protective equipment as necessary, be able to enter and exit a vehicle numerous times a day, have the endurance necessary to traverse various terrain, be capable of performing job duties throughout a standard 8 or 10-hour day, be able to communicate with oth-ers, read, write, and comprehend written/verbal job instructions and information, and communicate and handle conflict professionally.
