Work involves diagnosing and resolving voice and data telecommunications problems, installing, and operating telecommunications components. Reports to the J6 Spectrum Section Supervisor. Works under minimal supervision, with considerable latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.Work Hours: Monday - Friday, 40 Hours a week, 8-hour DaysESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIESImplement cybersecurity protocols and physical safeguards to pro ect communication assets and sensitive transmissions.Collaborate with IT and cybersecurity teams to align telecommunications infrastructure with agency-wide security frameworks (e.g., NIST, CJIS).Conduct vulnerability assessments and apply mitigation strategies to prevent service disruptions or data breaches.Maintain documentation of system configurations, security controls, and change management activities.Support disaster recovery planning and continuity of operations through resilient system design.Perform system moves and changes internally or via remote access and provide technical expertise in system modification.Perform preventive maintenance on telecommunication systems, associated software, and peripheral equipment.Maintain records of system performance and operations.Prepare material requests and time requirements for telecommunications equipment and wiring.Plan and prepare for telecommunications network or systems equipment.Design and install office wiring vestigate and resolve problems concerning the operation of remote computers, telecommunications systems, communications hardware, and equipment.Troubleshoot, repair, test, install, customize, maintain telecommunications components, and implement corrective measures.Monitor the operation of voice, data, or video telecommunications equipment, and network control consoles.Design new telecommunications systems and organize operating controls and procedures for the telecommunications network.Design, troubleshoot and implement Cisco VoIP, Cisco Call Manager, Unified communication Manager 10.5, and Cisco Approved Product List (APL) applications and products.Configure, implement, and troubleshoot Cisco Unity Connect and Cisco Unified presence Service (CUPS) in an Enterprise environment.Design, configure and troubleshoot call control protocols on Voice Gateways (H.323, MGCP and SIP).May review and prepare specifications for equipment or licenses.May train others.Perform related work as assigned.Attend work regularly and observe approved work hours in accordance with agency state employee policies procedures handbook.May be required to perform duty in support of national emergencies, disasters and other missions, to include holidays and weekends.Qualifications: MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONSEDUCATION:Graduation from a standard high school or equivalent is required.PREFERRED EDUCATION:Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university, with a major course work in computer science, management information systems, electronic engineering, telecommunication management or a related field is preferred.EXPERIENCE:Five (5) years of experience with electronics or telecommunications installation and maintenance work is required.Experience in using Microsoft applications to include Microsoft Word and Excel is required.PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:Experience working in armories or a military environment is preferred.Experience working with various networks, signals, and radio frequency platforms.REGISTRATION, CERTIFICATION OR LICENSURE:Valid driver's license is required. If not currently a Texas resident, must obtain a Texas Driver's License within 30 days after entering Texas as a new resident. A satisfactory driving record is required for operating state or personal vehicles to conduct agency business.Must be able to acquire a security clearance and security+ certification to configure call manager.OTHER REQUIREMENTS:Background Investigation.
