Summary Central Arkansas Veteran Healthcare System, John L. McClellan Memorial Veterans Hospital, is recruiting a Full-Time Non-Invasive Cardiologist within the Medicine Service. Responsibilities This is an Open Continuous Announcement and will remain open until closing date and may be extended until the position is filled. Recruitment/Relocation Incentive (Sign-on Bonus): May be available for highly qualified candidates Pay: Competitive salary, annual performance bonus, regular salary increases Paid Time Off: 50-55 days of paid time off per year (26 days of annual leave, 13 days of sick leave, 11 paid Federal holidays per year and possible 5 day paid absence for CME) Retirement: Traditional federal pension (5 years vesting) and federal 401K with up to 5% in contributions by VA Insurance: Federal health/vision/dental/term life/long-term care (many federal insurance programs can be carried into retirement) Licensure: 1 full and unrestricted license from any US State or territory CME: Possible $1,000 per year reimbursement (must be full-time with board certification) Malpractice: Free liability protection with tail coverage provided Contract: No Physician Employment Contract and no significant restriction on moonlighting The Non-Invasive Cardiologist Physician provides care with in the Medicine Service and reports to the Section Chief of Cardiology. The incumbent role includes evaluating, diagnosing, providing consultation, treating, and managing inpatients and outpatients with a wide variety of acute, chronic and/or suspected diseases. Participates in education of trainees and actively engage in basic, clinical, or health services research in cardiovascular disease. Duties are but not limited to the following: Interpret and perform non-invasive cardiac imaging studies, including transthoracic and transesophageal echocardiography, stress echocardiography, cardiac CT, cardiac MRI, and nuclear cardiology studies Provide comprehensive inpatient and outpatient cardiology consultations for veteran patients with a wide range of cardiovascular conditions, focusing on diagnosis and management through non-invasive methods Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including primary care, internal medicine, and other specialists, to coordinate patient care and optimize cardiovascular outcomes Participate in the development and implementation of clinical protocols and quality improvement initiatives related to cardiac imaging and non-invasive cardiology services Provides clinical supervision, teaching, and mentorship to cardiology fellows, residents, medical students, and other healthcare professionals in cardiac imaging techniques and cardiovascular disease management Contribute to the maintenance and accreditation of cardiac imaging labs, ensuring compliance with national standards and VA policies Document all patient interactions and diagnostic findings in the electronic health record in a timely and accurate manner, following VA guidelines Participate in on-call and rotating coverage schedules, as required, for the provision of non-invasive cardiology services and urgent imaging interpretations Participate in section and service meetings, quality assurance programs and chart reviews Complete all medical record documentation within guidelines and appropriate deadline, including, but not limited to, e-consults, encounters, CPRS documentation, correctly code visits in accordance with coding guidelines, etc. Participate in administrative work assignments, including program building as assigned by the Section Chief and the Service Chief Participate in general cardiology rounding and other Cardiology activities as needed Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 7:30 am - 4:00 pm, subject to change based on the needs of the facility. Occasional travel may be required for staffing clinic in CBOCs. No overnight travel. Requirements Conditions of Employment U.S. Citizenship; non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy.
