In June of 2022, American Water was awarded a 50-year contract to privatize the wastewater utilities at Naval Station Mayport, Florida. NS Mayport is one of three major Navy installations in the Jacksonville area and has grown to become the third-largest fleet concentration area in the U.S. It is home to a daily population of over 32,000 sailors, families, and civilians, and the Navyu2019s 4th Fleet. The mission of NS Mayport is to sustain and enhance warfighter readiness. American Water will collect and provide for disposal of domestic and oily-waste water discharge, and provide significant rehabilitation of the wastewater treatment plant (WWTP). The WWTP processes 2 MGD and discharges to the Lower St. Johns River. The plant treats all wastewater generated at NS Mayport, including the ships in port, and is regulated under two separate NPDES permits. The wastewater collection system also includes over 220,000 linear feet of pipe, 531 manholes, 35 lift stations, and 16 holding tanks. We are looking for a Maintenance Electrician with a high level of self-motivation to join the Mayport Team Apply now for immediate consideration _Primary Role_ Provide general direction and oversight of electrical plans during planning and development of new or renovated plant and lift station projects. Performs other related functions and duties as assigned or as they become apparent and necessary. This position is required to carry out tasks with a minimum of directions. The person must demonstrate a high level of self-motivation and ability to complete jobs with and without help from others _Key Accountabilities_ u00b7 Responsible for all project electrical work, including but not limited to, installation, repair, and maintenance of electrical equipment, lighting, outlets, switches, wiring motors, motor controls, instrumentation installation and troubleshooting, SCADA system hardware maintenance, start-up testing, control panel maintenance, and power tools. u00b7 Effective and respectful communication and interactions with other employees, supervisors, individuals from other organizations, and citizen customers. Coordinates and communicates with project personnel as well as other outside entities to ensure operational reliability and environmental compliance. u00b7 Capable of conducting duties in a safe, efficient manner that will insure safety to themselves, co-workers and the public. Reports unsafe conditions. u00b7 Participation in the following safety programs plus other safety programs identified by AW: - Respiratory Program - Lock-out Tag-out Program - Bloodborne Pathogen Program - Chlorine Safety Program - Confine Space Program - Fall Protection & Climbing Safety Program - Hazard Communication Program - Hearing Conservation Program - Hot Works Program - Pipe Plug Safety Program - PPE Safety Program - SPPC Program _ Knowledge/Skills_ u00b7 Ability to properly utilize precision tools and instruments (electrical test equipment, thermo graphic analysis and vibration equipment). u00b7 Ability to properly utilize tools required by the job, including but not limited to, hand tools, power tools. u00b7 Capable of written and verbal communication to all necessary entities. u00b7 Demonstrates knowledge, ability and understanding of electrical tasks normally associated with water distribution and wastewater collection systems, as well as electro-mechanical related equipment. u00b7 Must have a thorough knowledge, understanding and ability to read and interpret electrical blueprints, schematics and ladder logic drawings. u00b7 Knowledge of and access to electrical commercial and industrial codes as defined by NEC, OSHA, NFPA. u00b7 Understands and can operate basic computer software, including RSLogix and RS Linku2019s ladder logic electrical control diagnostic software. Has an understanding of computer hardware, SCADA and wiring instruments. _Experience/Education_ u00b7 High School diploma, GED, or experience in related field. u00b7 3-5 years as an electrician working with 480-volt electrical systems. u00b7 Possess and maintain a valid Driveru2019s License. u00b7 Certification as a licensed electrician desired, but not required as equivalent experience and training can be substituted. _Work Environment_ u00b7 Subject to outdoor/indoor elements and to temperature changes, hot/cold, walking, kneeling standing, lifting, and bending.
