Job Summary: Textron seeks a highly motivated, responsible, and mature student, considering a career in public service, government relations, public policy, defense and/or international trade and compliance. You will be expected to assist with and participate in the daily activities and special projects, as well as benefit from coaching and mentoring by seasoned in-house personnel. Responsibilities: + Draft memorandum and special project reports or presentations + Attend and participate in meetings and presentations. + Provide government policy tracking support to Washington Operations personnel. + Monitor pertinent legislative, executive branch and international developments, and prepare required reports. + Assist in research and analytical data tracking/projects regarding defense/military procurement and sustainment. + Assist staff in remaining abreast of hearings, meetings, forums and media reports regarding issues of interest to company business units and programs. + Open to future career development opportunities within Textron business unit locations + Other duties as assigned. Qualifications Education/Experience: + Enrolled as a full-time student pursuing a BA/BS degree in public policy, legislative affairs, foreign or international affairs preferred. + Strong GPA and academic record + Interest in defense/military, international and public affairs preferred. Prior working experience in a professional environment a plus. Skills/Competencies: + Well-developed organizational and fact-gathering skills. + Ability to work as a member of a team and independently, as experience is gained. + Strong analytical and communication skills. + Ability to multi-task and prioritize assignments in a fast-paced work environment. + High integrity This is a 10-week, paid summer internship with full-time hours. The position will be located in Providence, RI or Washington, DC where you will collaborate directly with senior attorneys and business personnel of a publicly traded company and assist with and participate in daily activities and special projects.
