This job was posted by : For moreinformation, please see: OverviewThe Vermont Department of Labor is seeking a Program Technician II toprovide customer service assistance in the unemployment call center. TheUnemployment Insurance Customer Service Representatives providespecialized, professional level work involving interviewing of claimantsby telephone for unemployment benefits. Duties include conductinginitial and subsequent assessment of individual needs; persuadingclaimants to accept referrals to Career Resource Centers forreemployment services; investigation and resolution of eligibilityissues and applies adjustments to individual cases as needed. Employeesin this class may train new staff and may be assigned independentprojects in special program claims work including, but not limited tounemployment compensation for former service personnel, unemploymentcompensation for Federal employees, combined wage claims, short termcompensation claims, Trade Readjustment Act and disaster unemploymentassistance. Customer Service Representatives must be able to work instressful and sometimes emotional situations and treat the public withsensitivity, fairness, and tact. Environmental FactorsDuties are performed predominately in an office setting. Private meansof travel should be available for occasional travel when cumbents must be adaptable and able to work within tight time limitsand under considerable stress. Some evening and weekend duty may benecessary.
