Mechanical Engineer (Project Engineer), SmithGroup, Inc., subsidiary of SmithGroup Co., Inc., 500 Griswold Street, Suite 1700, Detroit, MI: Leads a team of junior staff to deliver exceptional projects by leveraging industry experience and technical acumen to drive projects from concept through build. Will provide the full range of engineering services on small to medium sized projects or provides support to a senior engineer on large, complex projects. Job duties include: Leads and performs analysis, design and documentation of small to medium heating, ventilating and air conditioning (HVAC) systems, plumbing systems, fire protection systems, laboratory and process piping and controls.u00a0 Manages the engineering discipline in one or more small to medium-sized project(s) in coordination with the project manager.u00a0 Manages the engineering discipline in a portion of a large-sized project in coordination with the project manager.u00a0 Establishes and maintains project staffing requirements consistent with contractual obligations.u00a0 Provides oversight and monitoring of the work performed by junior staff. Follows and enforces quality control procedures.u00a0 Prepares, develops and edits specifications and refines and further develops design concepts given by others.u00a0 Creates and develops planning and design concepts for more complex projects.u00a0 Oversees design work of others to ensure an integrated and cohesive design. Supervises the development of materials for client presentations.u00a0 Presents engineering design solutions to client representative and/or design review committees.u00a0 Revises, reviews and coordinates construction documents.u00a0 Visits construction sites as required for observation, answering contractor questions or representing the owner in preparing punch lists.u00a0 Prepares construction administration field observation reports.u00a0 Develops and maintains trusted relationships with clients.u00a0 Produce and coordinate the mechanical engineering portion of construction documents for permitting and bidding on small projects.u00a0 Regularly works with:u00a0 mathematical concepts, basic structural and spatial concepts, basic building code concepts and specifications and current design software (CAD, Revit, etc.) as well as Microsoft Office. Travel to client worksites may be required, less than 10% annually.u00a0 Telecommuting will be permitted, 1-2 days per week.Minimum requirements: A bachelor's degree (foreign equivalent degrees accepted) in mechanical engineering or architectural engineering and 2 years of experience in any related occupation performing analysis, design and documentation of heating, ventilating or HVAC systems. A Michigan PE license is also required. u00a0Basic annual pay range is ninety-three thousand, six hundred forty-two dollars to ninety-four thousand dollars for full-time employment and standard company benefits.
