Position Type Internship Category Education Description INTERNSHIP SUMMARY: This two-month clinical experience for child psychiatry residents is part of the Early Childhood Curriculum. u00a0Trainees are involved in observation of children and staff, and consultative skill development at a day care and preschool, the Marygrove Early Education Center, operated by Starfish. u00a0 STRUCTURE: Trainees will participate in a weekly half-day agency experience at the Marygrove Early Education Center. The clinical experience will be structured in 2-month cycles for trainees and includes on-site activities (4 hours per week) and 1 hour of weekly group supervision. The clinical experience will consist primarily of developmental observation of infants, toddlers, and preschool-aged children, as well as immersion in the day care/preschool setting in order to develop an understanding of the relevant staff, environmental and developmental issues, and potential referral questions in the preschool setting. u00a0 Caseload Expectations: This is an observational clinical experience with no caseload requirements. Fellows are expected to maintain the expected outpatient caseload. u00a0 Marygrove Early Education Center is located at 8251 West McNichols Rd., on the Marygrove Conservancy campus in Northwest Detroit.
