In Syracuse, our employees are the heart of producing the cryogenic systems that enable tomorrow's discoveries - while building rewarding careers in engineering, manufacturing, quality, finance, sales, service and beyond.Position SummaryListed work hours: 7:00 am - 3:30 pmThis position exists to produce prototype parts to prove new concepts and theories for new cryogenic products or component parts and tooling for this environment. The person in this position will be responsible for the machining and finishing of intricate parts and must have the ability to machine parts from drawing or sketch.Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesStudies specifications such as blueprints, sketches, models, or verbal descriptions, and visualizes product to determine materials required and machines to be used to fabricate partSets up and operates manual machines and machine tools such as lathes, milling machine, and grinder, to machine parts, and verifies conformance of machined parts to specifications to maintain precise tolerances in all parts producedPerforms hand/bench work as needed to complete productCreates necessary tooling to meet special manufacturing or R&D requirementsModifies existing parts per instructionsMeets deadlines as required by customers and is flexible with assignments as needed by departmentsPerforms housekeeping duties including preventive maintenance and repair of manual production machines according to schedules and exceptional needsAdheres to quality and safety standards as required by Bluefors in regard to all equipment, supplies and productsMaintains appropriate recordsOther duties as assignedQualifications and Education RequirementsCompletion of apprentice training or equivalent combination of education and experience. Five (5) or more years of experience in job shop atmosphere or equivalent is preferred.
