Join us for a rewarding career in the aviation industry Job Description Our Mail Cargo Agent is responsible for handling, processing, and managing the movement of mail cargo through the airport facilities. This role includes loading and unloading mail from aircraft, sorting and organizing mail for distribution, and ensuring timely and accurate dispatch to destinations. You must adhere to safety and security protocols, handle documentation related to mail cargo, and operate equipment such as forklifts and trolleys. Additionally, you will work with airlines, postal services, and other stakeholders to coordinate mail logistics and address any issues that may arise. WHAT ITu2019S LIKE TO WORK AS A MAIL CARGO AGENT u00b7 You like working as a team, toward a common goal u00b7 Handle and process incoming and outgoing mail and cargo at the airport u00b7 Sort and organize mail and cargo based on destination, priority, and type u00b7 Operate ground handling equipment for loading and unloading mail and cargo u00b7 Ensure proper handling and storage of mail and cargo in compliance with safety guidelines u00b7 Coordinate with airlines and ground crew for the timely transfer of mail and cargo u00b7 Inspect mail and cargo for security, verifying contents against documentation u00b7 Prepare and maintain accurate records of mail and cargo shipments u00b7 You have a great attention to detail u00b7 You enjoy working with a team or individually to accomplish your tasks u00b7 Like to build long term relationships with your customers u00b7 Physical activity may include: u00b7 Stand and walk for extended periods of time u00b7 Ability to lift 70 pounds or more u00b7 Be able to hear and respond to the spoken voice and to audible alarms generated by terminal environment u00b7 Close vision (clear vision at 20 inches or less); Distance Vision (clear vision at 20 feet or more); Color Vision (ability to identify and distinguish colors); Peripheral Vision (ability to observe an area that can be seen up and down or to the left and right while eyes are fixed on a given point); Depth Perception (three-dimensional vision, ability to judge distances and spatial relationships); Ability to Adjust Focus (ability to adjust the eye to bring an object into sharp focus) Qualifications u00b7 Minimum age of 18 years old u00b7 Ability to read, write, speak, and understand the English language, to include documents u00b7 Experience in cargo handling, logistics, or a related field u00b7 Familiarity with mail processing and sorting procedures u00b7 Ability to operate cargo handling equipment such as forklifts u00b7 Good organizational and communication skills u00b7 Physical ability to lift and move heavy items u00b7 Flexibility to work in shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays u00b7 Comfortable working with computers, mobile devices, and tablets u00b7 Ability to pass a drug screen u00b7 Eligibility to acquire needed credentials and clearances (FAA, TSA, Port Authority, U.S. Customs and U.S. Postal- as applicable) u00b7 Must have a valid state-issued driveru2019s license with an acceptable driving record Airlines are 24/7, so we need our team members to be flexible to work various shifts including nights, weekends and holidays.
