Under the direction of the Sr. Director of Clinical Development and Chair of the Department of Medicine, the GI & Endo Nurse Coordinator supports patient care, throughput and clinical operations for the divisions of Gastroenterology and Endocrine.Essential Duties Implements pre-visit planning protocols for GI & Endocrine clinics as well as train medical assistants for chart preparationWork with the Access Center Nursing team to implement red/yellow/green triage matrixSupport referral management, by triaging referrals against Schedule Advisor protocolsProvide pre-surgery and pre-procedure patient educationRoute patients to follow up appointments post dischargeManage prescription refillsSupport authorization team, by responding to peer-to-peer requestsServe as Quality Committee representative for the Department of MedicineServe as liaison between Howard University Faculty Practice Plan and Howard University Hospital on Surgery/Procedure Reconciliation CommitteeRepresent Department of Medicine on Perioperative CommitteeRepresent Department of Medicine on OR CommitteeOther duties as assignedEducation Registered RN - RequiredDC License - Required BSN, MSN or MHSA, MPH or equivalent - Preferred Certified in Surgical Subspecialty-Preferred 2+ years experience in an academic health system - Preferred 3+ years ambulatory nursing experience or 2 years inpatient experience on a med/surg unit- RequiredCompliance Salary Range DisclosureExpected Pay Range: $90,909 - $100,000
