Employment Type: Part time Shift: Rotating Shift Description: Trinity Health Livingston Hospital & Brighton Medical Center Location: Howell & Brighton, MI Schedule: PRN- Non-benefitted Contingent Variable Shifts (Day/Afternoons) Pay rate: $50.51 GENERAL SUMMARY Implements the evaluation and treatment of medically disabled patients using established procedures. Provides education to patients and family to deal with present disabilities or prevent further disabilities. Provides consultation to health care personnel and public in matters of occupational therapy. EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND LICENSURE + Bacheloru2019s, or Masteru2019s degree in Occupational Therapy. + Certification by American Occupational Therapy Certification Board as an Occupational Therapist, Registered. Current Michigan registration as an Occupational Therapist. RESPONSIBILITIES + Behaves in accordance with the Mission, Vision and Values of Trinity Health System. + Maintains the confidentiality of information acquired pertaining to patient, physicians, employees, and visitors to Trinity Health System. + Evaluates patientsu2019 physical and functional status as related to medical diagnosis. + Administers tests reflective of current standards of practice including: sensory, manual muscle, range of motion, and other evaluation techniques. + Evidence of timely treatment planning based on objective findings. Establishes short and long term therapy goals, formulates treatment plans consistent with goals. + Utilizes critical thinking to determine priorities in treatment to address barriers. + Treatment reflects current standards of practice. Treatments using recognized procedures such as therapeutic exercise, activities of daily living, functional training and application of modalities. + Delegates care appropriately to assistive staff based on state practice act. + Provides quality patient care considering age specific, developmental and cultural needs through competent practice and application of the physical rehabilitation process. Documentation u00b7 Completes daily documentation on day of service. u00b7 Accurately completes charges for therapy services provided on day of service. u00b7 Charges appropriately based upon current reimbursement guidelines specified by carriers. u00b7 Regularly documents patientu2019s progress to goals. Provides updates to physician and other treatment members. Communication u00b7 Maintains good rapport and cooperative relationships. u00b7 Seeks and shares information in an appropriate fashion. u00b7 Communicates effectively with patients, families and other health care personnel. REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES + Knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and occupational therapy treatment and modalities. + Interpersonal skills necessary to communicate effectively with patients and patientsu2019 families when providing treatments and instructing same in use of therapeutic devices and methods as well as with other treatment team members when gathering and exchanging patient condition/progress information. + Analytical skills necessary to evaluate patientu2019s physical and functional status, establish therapy goals, formulate treatment plans consistent with goals, and observe patients and document progress/condition. + Ability to concentrate and pay close attention to detail for up to 80% of work time when administering treatments, observing patients and maintaining records. + Able to react quickly in sudden unplanned situations in order to prevent or minimize injuries to patients and/or staff. + Able to walk and stand up for up to 50% of work time while administering treatments. Able to lift, push and pull weights with an effective force of approximately 40-60 pounds (with or without mechanical devices or other personnel) for up to 20% of work time when positioning and moving patients. + Able to communicate effectively with patients, patientsu2019 families and other health center personnel.
