Summary This is an OPEN CONTINUOUS ANNOUNCEMENT and will remain open until September 30, 2026. The initial cut-off date for referral of eligible applicants will be October 31, 2025 with subsequent cut-off dates every two weeks. Eligible applications received after that date will be referred at regular intervals or as additional vacancies occur on an as-needed basis until position is filled. Responsibilities The Joseph Maxwell Cleland Atlanta VA Medical Center is recruiting for a Part-Time Physician for Radiation Oncology within Diagnostic Imaging Service. Radiation Oncology is a part of a large, complex, VA Medical Center with consults and referrals from VISN Medical Centers and outpatient clinics. VA offers a comprehensive total rewards package. Education Debt Reduction Program (Student Loan Repayment): This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific individual eligibility requirements in accordance with VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) and eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after complete review of the EDRP application. Provides direct clinical and administrative oversight for mid-level practitioners, physics, dosimetry, radiation therapists and other clinical staff as assigned. Responsible for providing services in an efficient, high-quality, cost effective manner within budget allocation. Works directly with Chief, Radiation Oncology Service to assist in ensuring adequate and appropriate staffing. Participates in recruitment, hiring, evaluation and disciplinary actions for staff. Works with the Chief, Radiation Oncology Service, and other staff as appropriate, supports operations issues/problems resolution in a logical, stepwise fashion. Participates in a forum in which staff identifies, communicates, and resolves issues related to Radiation Oncology Service, Medical Center ancillary and support operations, and VISN-wide mandates. Works with the Chief, Radiation Oncology Service, and other disciplines as necessary to support, contribute to and implement policies, procedures, performance goals, strategic plans, and initiatives. Seeks and enhances opportunities to promote and strengthen the Medical Center's and VISN goals. Responsible for implementing the goal of improving care for patients within the Medical Center and VISN. Contributes to the development, maintenance, and enhancement of relations with internal and external entities including but not limited to medical and nursing schools, therapist training programs, local public and private health care entities, colleagues in other Patient Services and Integrated Services such as Information Technology, Laboratory, and Business Office, labor, and VISN. Participates in Radiation Oncology Service strategic planning. Participates in local administrative, management, quality assurance, and other assignments, meetings, or committees. Provides direct patient care as a consultant in outpatient clinics and/or inpatient wards and will participate in the Radiation Oncology Service on call schedule. Participates in regular peer review activities. Must be alert to patient's condition and disorders. Reactions on the part of the patient require immediate attention so harm does not come to the patient. Maintains patient records and files. Follows HIPPA guidelines regarding patient information. Ensures timely completion of daily clinic notes with accurate documentation and coding of service rendered. Practices radiation safety to reduce exposure to patients, staff, and self, in compliance with department and VA radiation safety procedures to maintain occupational exposures
