Apply Today Job Summary and Qualifications Position Summary: This position supports the mission of Presbyterian/St Lukeu2019s Medical Center of optimizing the quality of life of all those served by expanding beyond the traditional focus on medical needs to the needs of the whole person. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Include: u00b7 Provides asset management and support of surgical instruments and trays belonging to or consigned to the facility, in accordance with The Department of Health, TJC, OSHA, CDC, AAMI and AORN standards. u00b7 Properly handles, decontaminates, assembles, sterilizes and returns for use all instrumentation in accordance with the above organizational standards. u00b7 Works with Clinical Coordinators to maintain preference cards and lean multiple specialty instrumentation. u00b7 Point of contact for OR staff for in room assistance and instrumentation needs. u00b7 Accurate and timely reporting of shift details to incoming shift staff and Lead Technician. u00b7 Performs inventory replacement procedures, transports instrumentation to OR as needed. u00b7 Supports daily operations of any activities that pertain to the processing of reusable instrumentation. u00b7 Communicates with SPD staff and OR staff to ascertain that pre-case needs are met, resolve any outstanding issues and offer alternatives if necessary. u00b7 Reporting of broken instrumentation, and vital communication with team leadership and/or manager. u00b7 Demonstrates consistent success in working, communicating with, and mentoring diverse staff. u00b7 Communicates in a professional manner to all staff and facility employees. u00b7 Demonstrates extensive knowledge of instrumentation in multiple specialty areas. u00b7 Completes documentation for inventory and equipment service requests. u00b7 Regularly meets with OR staff and surgeons to ensure needs are being met and prioritized. u00b7 Verifies availability of instrumentation for next day cases and weekend cases. u00b7 Other duties as assigned. Position Requirements: A. Licensure/Certification/Registration: Certification as a Sterile Processing Technician required, and one advanced certification (Advanced Instrument Tech, CST or Endoscopy Technician) required within 1 year of hire. B. Education: Associate Degree or equivalent from 2 year technical school, or 2 years related experience, or combination of both. C. Experience: At least 2 years of previous SPD experience, or similar clinical experience required. D. Special Qualifications: Medical terminology and familiarity with surgical instrumentation preferred. Good organizational and leadership skills, attention to detail and ability to multi task in a high pressure environment. Must be able to read and speak English fluently.
