Staff Accountant

Description We are looking for a skilled Staff Accountant to join our team in Franklin, Wisconsin. This long-term contract position focuses on sales and use tax compliance, general ledger reconciliations, and ensuring accurate financial reporting across multiple jurisdictions. Responsibilities: u2022 Prepare and submit monthly sales and use tax returns for multiple states and local jurisdictions. u2022 Validate and reconcile sales tax data to ensure accurate and timely filings. u2022 Perform general ledger reconciliations related to tax accounts and resolve discrepancies. u2022 Analyze transaction data to assess taxability and verify proper application of tax rates. u2022 Manage and update tax exemption certificates in alignment with company policies. u2022 Support month-end closing activities by preparing reconciliations and schedules for tax accounts. u2022 Collaborate with internal teams to address sales tax inquiries and provide data as needed. u2022 Maintain compliance with state and local tax regulations through meticulous record-keeping. u2022 Assist the Tax Manager and contribute to a cohesive tax team environment. Requirements u2022 Bacheloru2019s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. u2022 Minimum of 2 years of experience in accounting, with a focus on sales and use tax compliance or general ledger reconciliation. u2022 Proficiency in SAP and Microsoft Excel, including VLOOKUPs and pivot tables. u2022 Strong analytical skills with a high level of attention to detail and accuracy. u2022 Ability to manage recurring filing cycles and meet deadlines consistently. u2022 Knowledge of multi-state tax regulations and corporate accounting practices. u2022 Excellent problem-solving abilities and organizational skills. u2022 Comfortable working onsite in Franklin, Wisconsin, as part of a collaborative team environment.
