Overview To provide case management for the Newark Area Services social service programs under the direction ofthe ADA with professional supervision provided by Divisional Headquarters Human Services Staff whenrequested. The social services case worker will be able to identify the needs of the clients served, providecommunity resources and referrals, and provide outreach within the community at large to build a network Responsibilities The duties listed below are the primary duties of this position but are not all the duties that may be required. The Salvation Army reserves the right to change, reduce or expand the duties of this position at any time. Specifically, the primary duties are:u2022 Performing intakes, interviews, and assessments of clientsu2019 needs and performing follow up casemanagement with households for other supportive programs available if needed beyond emergencyassistance.u2022 Identifying and interacting with case management clients; providing comprehensive case managementincluding but not limited to assessment of client needs, developing a plan of action utilizing a strengths based approach, and identifying internal and external programs that would support their pathway toself-sufficiency.u2022 Screen and process emergency assistance (rental, utility, etc.), as funds are available and withincontract guidelinesu2022 Completing home visits as needed for various program requirements.u2022 Coordinating services with partner agencies to ensure a holistic service approach for all clients.u2022 Establishing and strengthening solid community collaborations with outside agencies, and serving asa client advocate, enhancing a collaborative relationship to maximize clientu2019s ability to make informeddecisions.u2022 Supporting the Pathway of Hope Initiative by referring eligible families with children under 18 who areliving in generational/chronic poverty to POH Case Managers within NASu2022 Ensuring the accuracy and timely submission of records and reports in applicable databases for allcommunity programs and funding sources as requested by the NAS Leadership.u2022 Maintaining accurate, confidential and updated case records in accordance with The Salvation Armyrecord keeping policies and procedures.u2022 Arranging workshops, lectures and training to clients, families, employees and community groups asneeded.u2022 Representing the Salvation Army at community meetings as assigned and providing feedback andinformation helpful to the operation and service delivery of the Corps.u2022 Assist with special events planning, seasonal assistance, and implementation, i.e. Angel tree Program,Summer Camp, etc.u2022 Attend and participate in regular staff meetings/ trainings and individual supervision meetings asrequired.u2022 Uphold the standards and principles of The Salvation Armyu2019s mission and ministryu2022 Other duties as assigned that fall in the range and scope of this position not herein listed. Qualifications u2022 Bacheloru2019s Degree Preferred in Social Work, Psychology, Counseling or Human Services related fieldfrom an accredited institution.u2022 Bilingual in English and Spanish, desired, but not required.u2022 Possess organizational skills.u2022 Knowledgeable of County and community resources.u2022 Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work as part of a team.u2022 Excellent written and verbal communication skills, ability to establish rapport.u2022 Ability to maintain confidentiality of interactions with clients and fellow employees.u2022 Awareness and sensitivity to cultural and socioeconomic characteristics of populations served.u2022 Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs, including but not limited to Word, Excel, & Outlook.u2022 NJ Driveru2019s License with a clean driving record.u2022 Must understand and appreciate the mission of The Salvation Army.
