The Structural Estimator is responsible for material takeoffs, cost analysis, preparation, and presentation of discipline estimates to leadership and stakeholders for large and complex projects. The position also involves the maintenance of historical databases while assisting in the development of department procedures. The targeted markets include but are not limited to Nuclear, DOE, and DOD contracts. Responsibilities u2022 Review RFP to determine scope of work and estimate requirements u2022 Perform quantity takeoff development from drawings, specifications, and other related documentation u2022 Develop an estimate to support proposal creation and bid submittal documents, especially when it comes to complex pricing sheets (ie bid forms, bid tabs, etc) u2022 Determine labor, material, construction equipment, subcontract, and other direct cost for self-performed construction execution u2022 Analyze crew structures for composite rate development in union, merit shop, and prevailing wage labor markets u2022 Learn and become a subject matter expert with InEight Estimating software u2022 Align bid packages to proposal requirements prior to being issued to subcontractors and vendors u2022 Evaluate Quote Comparison Sheets once subcontractor and vendor pricing has been received u2022 Be involved with the construction execution plan, and upon project award, it is expected that the basis of estimate will serve as the actual plan for construction u2022 Assist the Lead Estimator in identifying / mitigating risk and performing cost analysis u2022 Participate in the estimate review process with internal and external team members u2022 If necessary, assist in customer presentation preparation u2022 Determine project successes and areas for improvement by analyzing past cost from ongoing and completed projects u2022 Upon successful contract award, assist with project initiation by conforming the estimate while working with business, project controls, and the production team Qualifications + u2022 Bachelor's degree in Construction Management or Engineering / Technology and may be substituted with extensive and related work experienceu2022 Minimum of 3 yearsu2019 experience in heavy industrial construction ($50M+) with emphasis on concrete or structural steelu2022 Detailed experience with concrete or structural steel including development of quantities and estimates from construction document hand take-off as well as model export methodsu2022 Exceptionally strong attention to detailu2022 Ability to develop detailed estimate and project documentationu2022 Strong verbal and written communication skillsu2022 Ability to confidently present technical information to project stakeholders and leadership in a clear, concise, easy to understand manneru2022 Demonstrate advanced skills with Microsoft ExcelOther Requirements:u2022 Regular, reliable attendanceu2022 Work productively and meet deadlines timelyu2022 Communicate and interact effectively and professionally with supervisors, employees, and others individually or in a team environmentu2022 Perform work safely and effectively.
