Summary This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific eligibility requirements per VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Program Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) & eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after review of the EDRP application. Former EDRP participants ineligible to apply. Responsibilities The primary purpose of the Critical Care/Intermediate Care Clinical Nurse is to provide direct care in the intensive care inpatient setting to a variety of patients from admission, transfer in, care, and treatment thru to transfer out or discharge to a different level of care. Critical care nursing deals with human responses to life-threatening problems. The human responses are dynamic to the actual or potentially life-threating illness. Intermediate care is provided to patient who need a level of care between general medical surgical care and critical care. Transition of level of care occurs in the same location. Core elements of performance include knowledge and active participation in unit or program level quality improvement process and initiatives as well as customer service programs. Major Duties include, but are not limited to: Accountable for adhering to established policies, procedures, standards of care and standards of practice. Responsible and accountable for all elements of the nursing process and supervision direct patient care of others. Assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates care based on age-specific components. Assumes responsibility for the coordination of care focused on patient transition through the continuum of care, patient family education, patient self-management after discharge, and supporting factors that impact Veteran and family satisfaction and engagement. Considers all characteristics of the individual, including age and life stages, state of health, social determinants of health and previous experiences. Administers medication and procedures according to established to standard work and guidelines. Influences care outcome by collaborating with members of the interdisciplinary team.
