Summary This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific individual eligibility requirements in accordance with VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Program Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) and eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after complete review of the EDRP application. Responsibilities VA Careers - Psychologist: Total Rewards of a Allied Health Professional The Staff Psychologist in this position is assigned to the BMNS Team within the Behavioral Health Service Line at the Truman VA, with primary workload responsibility to Home Based Primary Care (HBPC). The Staff Psychologist assists the primary care provider (PCP) in managing the overall health of their enrolled population. The Staff Psychologist's goals are to help improve recognition, treatment, and management of psychosocial/behavioral problems and conditions in the enrolled population. The incumbent provides consultation services to all HBPC patients, referred by the primary care team. The person in this position will deliver brief, consultation-based services, to veteran's in their home, using an integrated care model. Specific duties include outpatient assessment & individual counseling services. In addition to providing direct patient care, the incumbent may have limited administrative responsibilities, teaching/training responsibilities, and program development/quality improvement responsibilities, as described below. Duties may include: Serves as an integral member of the HPBC team to provide accessible, integrated, biopsychosocial health care services to patients assigned within their PACT. Utilizes appropriate therapeutic techniques or combinations of techniques to provide Evidence-Based and Recovery-Oriented treatment to Veterans with complex mental health needs within outpatient and inpatient settings. The incumbent provides the full range of therapeutic interventions, including cognitive assessment, education, individual and/or family psychotherapy, and group psychotherapy to patients, family members, and significant others, as clinically indicated. Provides consultation to professional staff within the Truman VA and to community providers concerning clinical assessment findings and appropriate treatment plans for patients. The incumbent draws upon his/her knowledge of current research literature as well as patient-centered factors to determine recommendations. Functions independently as a member of the Truman VA Medical Staff, with full clinical privileges. The Staff Psychologist assumes complete professional responsibility for his/her clinical assessment findings, patient care decisions, and documentation. Regularly attends and actively participates in BMNS Team meetings. Incumbent also attends and participates in administrative and informational meetings held by the Service Line Chief (or designee) and facility Director. The incumbent regularly attends Psychology Service staff meetings, Medical Staff meetings, and complies with Psychology Service peer review procedures. The incumbent may also participate in Behavioral Health and/or hospital committees or work groups, as assigned. Remains aware of current research by attending professional conferences and by reading professional publications. The incumbent may also present his/her own findings or theories at such conferences and/or in professional publications. Incumbent is responsible to operate a government-owned/leased vehicle to properly carry out assigned duties. Incumbents must possess [and maintain] a valid, unrestricted State driver's license, have a safe driving record, and demonstrate that they are medically qualified to operate the appropriate motor vehicle safely.
