Summary A 25% Recruitment or Relocation Incentive may be authorized for highly qualified selectee. This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet eligibility requirements and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Program Approval, award up to $200,000 and eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services. Pay: Competitive salary, annual performance bonus, regular salary increases Paid Time Off: 50-55 days of paid time off per year (26 days of annual leave, 13 days of sick leave, 11 paid Federal holidays per year and possible 5 day paid absence for CME) Retirement: Traditional federal pension (5 years vesting) and federal 401K with up to 5% in contributions by VA Insurance: Federal health/vision/dental/term life/long-term care (many federal insurance programs can be carried into retirement) Licensure: 1 full and unrestricted license from any US State or territory CME: Possible $1,000 per year reimbursement (must be full-time with board certification) Malpractice: Free liability protection with tail coverage provided Contract: No Physician Employment Contract and no significant restriction on moonlighting Duties: Phoenix VA Health Care System - Radiology provides inpatient, outpatient, and emergency services to central Arizona Veterans. The Chief of Imaging Informatics will oversee the Enterprise wide PACS (Picture Archiving and Communication System) operation and the staff who are dedicated to this operation, including the management of digital image sharing between PVAHCS and Community Care partners. Opportunity entails splitting time between subspecialty, general radiology and informatics. Administration: The Departmental Supervisory Section Chief will work with the Chief of Radiology and Associate Chief of Radiology to manage operations of their Section. Administrative duties will include on-boarding of personnel, evaluation of prospective new hires, and overseeing compliance. The individual will participate as a member and/or leader of Radiology Service and PVAHCS-wide committees as assigned by the Chief of Radiology. The incumbent will carry out administrative duties as assigned in a timely, resourceful and efficient manner Patient Care: Documentation of care will be in accordance with the bylaws, policy, and regulations established by the VA and PVAHCS or the facility in which the care is provided. Teaching: The Supervisory Section Chief will function part time as a Radiology Educator for medical and other health care trainees including students, resident physicians and fellows as part of his/her duties. Research: The Supervisory Section Chief will be expected to mentor junior faculty, fellows and others on research projects that they wish to develop Radiologists are members of one or more sections: Body Imaging Breast Imaging Emergency Radiology General Radiology Interventional Radiology Musculoskeletal Imaging Neuroradiology Nuclear Medicine. Each section has a lead/Section Chief. Required: Board Certification Preferred: Fellowship training in one or more Radiology subspecialties Work Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8am to 4:30pm (or other tour as agreed upon with the Chief of Radiology). Call requirements will include sharing rotating night and evening coverage and weekend call with the remainder of the radiology physicians. Requirements Conditions of Employment U.S. Citizenship; non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy. All applicants tentatively selected for VA employment in a testing designated position are subject to urinalysis to screen for illegal drug use prior to appointment. Applicants who refuse to be tested will be denied employment with VA. Selective Service Registration is required for males born after 12/31/1959. Must be proficient in written and spoken English.
