Network Engineer

In this role you will support challenging, mission-critical projects that make a direct impact on the Nationu2019s security and intelligence mission. Responsibilities: u2022 Design / Support of virtual learning network infrastructure sufficient to meet special requirements for each course. u2022 Design / Support of classroom network infrastructure sufficient to meet special requirements of each classroom course. u2022 Troubleshooting of network issues and recommendation of network modification to optimize performance while adhering to all relevant security policies. u2022 Implementing STIG guidance, hardening and maintaining network systems. u2022 Assisting other team members in their Primary areas of responsibilities. Network Engineer must be able to successfully demonstrate the following capabilities: u2022 Experience with networking technologies such as routers, switches, encryption, and firewalls. u2022 Experience with TCP/IP networking, networking architecture, computer and operating systems. u2022 Experience with Implementing security measures, managing firewalls, and monitoring for threats to protect data and infrastructure. u2022 Knowledge of installing security patches, updates, and service packs to keep systems secure and up-to-date. u2022 Familiarity with the installation, configuration, and maintenance of Windows-based and Linux server infrastructure u2022 A working knowledge of both Linux platforms. u2022 A working knowledge of Windows and Windows Servers. u2022 Experience with Cisco hardware and operating systems. u2022 Experience with packet capture and network analysis tools is required. u2022 Experience with monitoring solutions and datacenter operations required. General Office environment: The work environment is fast-paced and sometimes involves extreme deadline pressures. The nature of the work requires a high degree of teamwork and cooperation with other members of the staff as well as individuals across the Company and Customers. Requirements: Clearance Required: u2022 TS/SCI with Polygraph Minimum Education: u2022 Bacheloru2019s Degree in Computer Science or related field is preferred. Additional years of experience can be substituted for a degree. Minimum Years of Experience: u2022 Eight (8) years progressively responsible network systems engineering experience is required. Four (4) years of experience can be substituted for a degree for total of twelve (12) years of experience. u2022 Familiarity with packet capture and network analysis tools is required. u2022 Knowledge of monitoring solutions required. u2022 VMware, vSphere, and vCenter experience is strongly desired. Required Certifications: u2022 Certification required, at a minimum, Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) as well as SEC+CE or equivalent (DoD 8570 IAT Level II Certification is required). Preferred: u2022 Experience with network security principles, threats, and vulnerabilities. u2022 Experience with Palo Alto hardware and operating systems (Level 2). u2022 Understanding of Software Defined Networking & Micro-segmentation u2022 Understanding of VXLAN and logical networking concepts. u2022 Experience with Atlassian Tools (Confluence, Jira, Bitbucket, etc.). u2022 Skilled in diagnosing and resolving complex technical issues related to servers, networks, and applications. u2022 Knowledge of coding languages for scripting (e.g. Python, Perl). u2022 Awareness of data center operations and network-based server systems. u2022 Ability to work flex and overtime hours with some weekend hours expected (for maintenance). u2022 Ability to solve problems quickly and completely; analytical problem-solving skills; adept at root-cause analysis and mitigation. u2022 Proven ability to work independently while being conscious of how your work interacts with that of others. u2022 Possess drive, enthusiasm, and attention to detail. u2022 Effective communication, writing, documentation, and requirements gatherings skills are needed to be effective in this role for working with other members of the Team and with the Customer to meet the requirements of the program. #javelin #externalreferral Pay Transparency Verbiage Amentumu2019s health and welfare benefits are designed to invest in you and in the things you care about.
