The clinical assistant assists provider and other clinical staff with obtaining basic vital information and preparing the patient for examination. Responsibilities Key Accountability u00b7 Demonstrates competence in the clinical skills necessary to carry out assigned job duties. u00b7 Responsible for tracking system for follow-up appointments related to office visits, laboratory tests and procedures to regular follow patients monitoring disease status. u00b7 Answer questions and provide teaching to patients and family members. u00b7 Provide appropriate and timely documentation in the patientu2019s electronic health record using standardized workflows and processes. u00b7 Provide information to appropriate regulatory agencies (i.e. health department). u00b7 Be aware of what is happening in clinic/department and the organization by attending clinic/department meetings, reading emails and regularly checking information on the organizationu2019s intranet site. u00b7 Demonstrate initiative to improve quality and customer service by striving to exceed customer expectations. u00b7 Balance team and individual responsibilities; be open and objective to otheru2019s views; give and welcome feedback; contribute to positive team goals; and put the success of the team above own interests. u00b7 Perform other duties as requested by Clinic Manager or Administrator to facilitate the smooth and effective operations of the office. Basic UPH Performance Criteria u00b7 Demonstrates the UnityPoint Health Values and Standards of Behaviors as well as adheres to policies and procedures and safety guidelines. u00b7 Demonstrates ability to meet business needs of department with regular, reliable attendance. u00b7 Employee maintains current licenses and/or certifications required for the position. u00b7 Practices and reflects knowledge of HIPAA, OSHA, safety, risk management and other federal/state regulatory agencies guiding healthcare. u00b7 Completes all annual education and competency requirements within the calendar year. u00b7 Is knowledgeable of hospital and department compliance requirements for federally funded healthcare programs (e.g. Medicare and Medicaid) regarding fraud, waste and abuse. Brings any questions or concerns regarding compliance to the immediate attention of hospital administrative staff. Takes appropriate action on concerns reported by department staff related to compliance. Qualifications QUALIFICATIONS: Minimum Requirements Identify items that are minimally required to perform the essential functions of this position. Preferred or Specialized Not required to perform the essential functions of the position. Education: High school or vocational school graduate CPR certification Mandatory Reporter certification Knowledge of medical terminology Current CMA certification for certified medical assistant Experience: Computer data entry experience Strong computer skills Previous clinical experience in medical office License(s)/Certification(s): Valid driveru2019s license when driving to any outreach locations Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: Strong interpersonal skills Ability to work as a team member Strong verbal and written communication skills Ability to write, read, comprehend/speak fluent English Other: Use of usual/customary equipment used to perform essential functions of the position.
