Responsibilities Essential Functions/Responsibilities: Essential functions are the duties and responsibilities that are essential to the position (not a task list). Duties should be action oriented and avoid vague or general statements. % of Time (annually) Clinical Excellence/Patient Care u00b7 Assesses the needs of patients and families undergoing invasive cardiac procedures, providing appropriate teaching, and making the necessary referrals to provide continuity of care. u00b7 Assists the physician with the development of an individual plan of care using a collaborative approach with the patient/family and health care team. u00b7 Promptly completes documentation to assure an accurate legal record of patientu2019s care. u00b7 Utilizes holistic approach (considering biopsychosocial, spiritual, educational, safety, and related criteria) appropriate to the age of the patients and families served in the assigned service area. u00b7 Utilizes critical thinking in making judgments and maintains responsibility and accountability for the knowledge of conditions of the patient. u00b7 Complete competency evaluations for supply, monitoring, and scrub roles as appropriate. u00b7 Demonstrates and maintains proficiency in the manual skills and techniques required in the administration of emergency medications used in the Cardiovascular Procedural Lab including under the direct supervision of the physician, if appropriate based upon role and training. u00b7 Demonstrates and maintains proficiency in the manual skills and techniques required to operate specialized equipment in the Cardiovascular Procedural Labs u00b7 Demonstrates and maintains proficiency in maintaining a clean environment and sterile procedure field. u00b7 Demonstrates knowledge and understanding of radiation safety and practice including, but not limited to the following: o Knowledge of advanced imaging systems used in the Cath Lab setting u00b7 Use of radiation protection devices and exposure levels for both the team member and patients. 50% Development & Patient Education u00b7 Continues professional development and involvement in professional activities that enhance cardiovascular procedural practice by sharing knowledge through networking and research. u00b7 Assess and chooses teaching strategies appropriate to the patientu2019s and their familiesu2019 age specific needs, culture, gender, readiness to learn and level of comprehension. u00b7 Consults appropriate resources within the hospital to provide specialized education. u00b7 Demonstrates knowledge that patient and workplace safety is a priority by preventing errors, accidents and infections and reporting potential or actual concerns immediately. 40% Basic UPH Performance Criteria u00b7 Demonstrates the UnityPoint Health Values and Standards of Behaviors as well as adheres to policies and procedures and safety guidelines. u00b7 Demonstrates ability to meet business needs of department with regular, reliable attendance. u00b7 Employee maintains current licenses and/or certifications required for the position. u00b7 Practices and reflects knowledge of HIPAA, JCAHO, DNV, OSHA and other federal/state regulatory agencies guiding healthcare. u00b7 Completes all annual education and competency requirements within the calendar year. u00b7 Is knowledgeable of hospital and department compliance requirements for federally funded healthcare programs (e.g. Medicare and Medicaid) regarding fraud, waste and abuse. Brings any questions or concerns regarding compliance to the immediate attention of hospital administrative staff. Takes appropriate action on concerns reported by department staff related to compliance. 10% Qualifications Minimum Requirements Identify items that are minimally required to perform the essential functions of this position. Preferred or Specialized Not required to perform the essential functions of the position. Education: Diploma or certificate of completion: u00b7 Cardiovascular Technology u00b7 Radiology Technology u00b7 Paramedic Experience: Two (2) year cardiovascular procedure experience Two (2) year conscious sedation experience depending upon role Complex cardiovascular procedure experience which could include, electrophysiology (EP), peripheral vascular and/or structural heart procedures. License(s)/Certification(s): Have and maintain current licensure/certification in good standing to practice with one of the following: - Radiology Technologist R.T.(R) - Paramedic Dual licensure or certification may be required for certain markets for this position based upon states of practice. New hires who are not dual licensing/certification will have 90 days from date of hire to obtain and submit proof of dual licensure. (Proof of application for dual licensure is acceptable within the 90-day window if licensure processing has not been completed at the state level). Must possess and maintain current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification, Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS). Dependent upon role, if administering procedural sedation, must have previous experience and take a Conscious sedation class (UnityPoint procedural sedation class) and pass a competency test with 84% accuracy as required by the affiliates policy. This competency test needs to be done every two years to verify competency. Market level policy must be followed for Propofol administration. Must have Cardiac Basic Rhythm interpretation skills and be able to pass a competency. - Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS) - Registered Cardiovascular Electrophysiology Specialist (RCES) - Cardiac Interventional (CI) or Vascular Interventional (VI) through ARRT. Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: Writes, reads, comprehends, and speaks fluent English Multicultural sensitivity Microsoft Office u2013 basic computer skills. Customer/patient focused Critical thinking skills using independent judgment in making decisions. - Epic Cupid Documentation - Hemodynamic Monitoring Documentation Other: Must meet market specific on-call requirements including but not limited to response time and arrival time, after-hour responses, weekends and holiday coverage.
