Summary Under the supervision of a Nurse Leader and the direction of the Registered Nurse, the Student Nurse Technician is responsible for performing specific duties that support patient care, which includes direct and indirect patient care activities that are essential to providing a safe and efficient care environment. This position performs selected interventions and activities that contribute to providing comprehensive care to patients in accordance with all existing regulatory and hospital standards, policies, and procedures. In addition, along with the care team, this position is responsible for ensuring a positive patient experience. This role performs in a high activity work environment with multiple priorities and necessitates flexibility in scheduling. Student Nurse Technicians must be actively enrolled in an accredited ASN or BSN Nursing program. u00b7 Assists the RN and the nursing care team by performing nursing care measures that contribute to the daily management of patient care. Upholds infection prevention standards. u00b7 Performs and assists with direct patient care: bathing, grooming, oral / denture care, perineal care, toileting, elimination, feeding, positioning, repositioning and ambulation. u00b7 Performs interventions: specimen collection, urinary catheter care, Point of Care Testing. u00b7 Obtains and records vital signs using the electronic medical record. u00b7 Assists in maintaining a clinical environment that is clean, safe and free from clutter. u00b7 Reports deviations and changes in patient status in a timely manner to the RN. u00b7 Performs EKG and/or Phlebotomy duties based on assigned unit, hospital, and / or need. u00b7 Performs other related duties as required. u00b7 Must be able to read and understand oral and written instructions, and effectively communicate information in English/required/ u00b7 Current enrollment in an accredited ASN or BSN program and in good academic standing/required/ u00b7 Certified BLS Provider credentialed from the American Heart Association (AHA) obtained within 2 Months (60 days) of hire date or job transfer date/required/ u00b7 High school diploma or GED/preferred./ u00b7 Acute care experience as a nursing assistant/preferred/ u00b7 Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA)/preferred./ u00b7 EPIC experience/preferred./ u00b7 Basic math skills. u00b7 Basic computer skills. u00b7 Demonstrated ability to use skillful communication with members of the healthcare delivery team and with patients. Uses communication skills to foster a healthy work environment and facilitate positive patient outcomes and experience. u00b7 Ability to read and understand medical terminology. u00b7 Phlebotomy technology skills u00b7 12 Lead EKG/telemetry lead placement skills u00b7 Demonstrates fiscal responsibility in time management, resources and use of supplies u00b7 Ability to manage time and productivity without immediate supervision. u00b7 Strong customer service skills.
