New Shepard is a reusable suborbital rocket system designed to take astronauts and research payloads past the Karman line - the internationally recognized boundary of space. Through operational reusability, New Shepard supports our mission of lowering the cost of access to space.As part of a multidisciplinary team of Avionics engineers, you will deliver Avionics hardware systems to New Shepard. You will be integrated with our rocket program and technical leads to drive requirements definition, modeling, analysis, design, test, and production release of on-vehicle launch, components, and sub-systems.This is a hands-on position that will involve you in all aspects of engineering, design, fabrication, installation, test, and operations support.We are looking for someone to apply their technical expertise, leadership skills, and dedication to quality toward safe human spaceflight. Passion for our mission is requiredNote that Blue Origin is a dog-friendly workplace.Special Mentions:Relocation providedTravel expected up to 10% of the timeInterviews will include a technical assessmentResponsibilities include but are not limited to:Create and modify 3D models in Creo of mechanical Avionics components, assemblies, and installationsInitiate and track engineering releases through WindchillCreate and track progress via Jira tickets, engaging in agile project management and participating in daily standups and other sprint meetingsPerform design, material, and component trade studies and risk assessmentsAuthor and review technical documents including drawings, analysis reports, and proceduresConduct and participate in design and readiness reviewsCommunicate technical information using verbal, written, and presentation formatsAs necessary, plan and conduct engineering validation testsReview and interpret test results and dataManage priorities and tasks to meet promised dates for deliverablesEffectively engage with personnel from other teams including Electrical, Systems, Manufacturing, Test Engineering, Production, Procurement, and Quality.Minimum Qualifications:Passion for Blue Origin's mission: Millions of people living and working in spaceB.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering or similar field5+ years of recent experience designing high reliability mechanical assembliesProven Mechanical design skills using 3-D CAD software such as Creo or SolidWorksStrong understanding of mechanical engineering structural design and analysis methods (Bruhn, Marks' Standard Handbook, Shigley)Proficiency with ANSYS Mechanical or equivalent finite element analysis applicationsCompetency in Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) and familiarity with ASME Y14.5 and standard drawing practices in ASME Y14.100Preferred Qualifications:M.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent engineering field8+ years of recent experience designing high reliability mechanical assembliesExtensive experience with PTC Creo 10 and PTC WindchillExperience designing wiring harnesses, 3D routing, designing harnessing supports, and creating harnessing drawingsExperience crafting and building electro-mechanical assembliesExperience with fatigue analysis and fracture mechanicsExperience with environmental testing including thermal testing, vibration, and shockExperience with aerospace, lau
