Summary: The Pharmacy Technician 1 assists licensed pharmacists in the practice of pharmacy performing duties such as preparing, filling, and labeling medications for patients in the Medical Center. As patient care assignments dictate, the technician I is responsive to the explicit need of neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients. When relevant, appropriate standards of practice and sensitivity to the psychosocial needs of these patient populations are exercised. Other information: u2022 High school diploma/GED required. u2022 Currently State of Illinois Pharmacy Technician licensure required. u2022 Completion of an ACPE/ASHP accredited pharmacy technician training program if licensed on or after January 1, 2024. u2022 Listed below is the required training program/hours that need to be completed ACPE/ASHP accredited training u2022 500 hours of on the job training that covers items 1-6 of Section 17.1 of the PPA Items 1-6 1. The duties and responsibilities of the technicians and pharmacists. 2. Tasks and technical skills, policies, and procedures. 3. Compounding, packaging, labeling, and storage. 4. Pharmaceutical and medical terminology. 5. Record keeping requirements. 6. The ability to perform and apply arithmetic calculations. u2022 500 hours of training (work experience and didactic) outlined in section 1330.215 of the rules u2022 Individual must have PTCB (Pharmacy Technician Certification Board) certification or ability to achieve by second license renewal. u2022 Ability to effectively follow directions, analyze problems, and interpret analytical data. u2022 Strong communication skills with an emphasis on customer service skills. u2022 Accountable for own actions, progress, and development. u2022 Employees need to be able to work extended hours due to business needs. u2022 This position may require up to 10% travel. u2022 Position Type and Expected Hours of Work: This is a full time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Some flexibility in hours is allowed, but the employee must be available during the
