This position is located at the Veteran Affairs Medical Center in Washington DC. The Washington DC VA Medical Center , located within sight of the Nation's Capitol, is the only health care system that specifically provides care to Veterans. Offering tertiary care in a Complexity Level 1A hospital. Responsibilities Interpretation of general and cross-sectional radiology examinations (plain film, CT, CTA, US,MRI) as provided and privileged. Subspecialized radiologists will get a preference: however, each radiologist is expected to provide some other cross-section and general X-rays reads. Performing ultrasound examinations of the internal organs, thyroid, scrotum etc., and vascular exams such as carotids. The US responsibility may include US in the first trimester and other gynecological ultrasounds. Performing fluoroscopic examinations such as barium studies is required. Performing joint injections for MRI studies if selected to do MSK MRI. Participation in and supporting performance improvement activities, including, but not limited to, external review programs, internal peer review programs, and accreditation requirements. Be familiar with voice dictation Power scribe to ensure timely and consistent imaging reportingu00b7 and record keeping. Provide accurate, concise, timely documentation of care in the electronic medical record (Computerized Patient Record System -CPRS) on each patient care occurrence. Verification of reports must be completed within 48 hours. Ensure communication for direct patient care is accomplished among imaging staff and providers. Ability to identify age-specific needs and provide the appropriate care based upon the age-related factors. Participation in Quality Management activities such as image quality, clerical checks, peer review, scheduling, Tumor Board and other activities as required. May be asked from time to time to review imaging policy and procedures and recommend updates or changes to the Chief of Radiology for implementation and support the coordination of the services daily functioning as needed Required to take calls on the weekends and weekdays as determined by the service chief. Required to work 80 hours per two weeks pay period which may include late shifts. Accept administrative responsibility for a short-term basis as and when needed and delegated by the service chief or the hospital leadership. Maintain professional and cordial relations with the staff members in the department as well as elsewhere in the department. Foster team spirit and provide the best possible care to our veterans. Take proactive role in teaching related activities with an objective to have residents rotating through the service. Incumbent may be asked to work in the late shift on weekdays which can run up to 8.00PM. VA offers a comprehensive total rewards package. VHA Physician Total Rewards.
