Heavy Equipment Operator - LA

Job description Overview We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Equipment Operator to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for operating a variety of heavy equipment and machinery to support the construction, maintenance, and operations of our facilities and projects. This role requires a strong foundation in equipment operation, a keen eye for safety, and a commitment to meeting deadlines and project goals. Duties Excavations/trenching inside closed landfills for landfill gas collections and leachate systems is a plus. Must be flexible and willing to work overtime as needed. u00b7 Ensures equipment is in good working order, at all times. u00b7 Must possess skill, coordination, and awareness to operate heavy equipment in a safe manner with precision and efficiency. u00b7 Able to slope or bench an excavation. u00b7 Able to read and understand cut and fill stakes in order to align and position equipment appropriately. u00b7 Willingness to operate heavy equipment for long periods with continuous attention to detail and safety. u00b7 Observe and follow all applicable safety requirements. u00b7 Maintain consistent communication among field crew members by use of hand signals or radio to align and position heavy equipment properly. u00b7 Confirm necessary precautions have been taken to ensure no conflicts exist with both above and below-ground utilities. u00b7 All other duties as assigned by the Superintendent Skills A positive attitude and willingness to take direction. u00b7 Ability to communicate in English u00b7 Understanding proper safety procedures and recognizing hazards u00b7 Ability to understand Plans as they relate to trenching, excavation, and grading. u00b7 Knowledge of U.S.A. marks u00b7 Must be a team player and create a positive environment u00b7 Must be a self-starter and a go-getter u00b7 Ability to check grade and verify elevations using a laser, is a plus. u00b7 Ability to lead the day-to-day activities of a small crew, is a plus. u00b7 Must be flexible and willing to work overtime as needed, including weekends. License/Certification: + Driver's License (Preferred) Ability to Commute: + Oakland, CA (Required) Requirements Education/Training: u00b7 High School diploma or General Education Degree (GED) u00b7 Five (5) years of hands-on/demonstrated experience as a heavy equipment operator u00b7 40-Hr HAZWOPER or current 8-Hr HAZWOPER Refresher Certification u00b7 Construction industry experience, preferred u00b7 Valid Driver's License and reliable transportation Job Types: Full-time, Contract Pay: $35.00 - $37.00 per hour Benefits: Benefits Industry Standard Benefits
