Worker Type Regular Job Description As a Software Engineer II (Applications) one works with and is mentored by a talented group of engineers to design and develop software solutions to meet customer requirements. Duties u2022 Implements and optimizes algorithms and software including gRPC and REST endpoints, relational database schemas, and user interface components u2022 Supports testing and demonstration of components and integrated systems u2022 Develops documentation, technical reports, and provides report inputs for presentation to customers and other stakeholders u2022 Creates software design documentation according to software process requirements and guidance from Senior Engineers u2022 Delivers work on time according to agreed completion dates and project schedule & budget u2022 Operates in a continuous learning environment under moderate supervision u2022 Works on problems of moderate scope where analysis of situations or data requires a review of a variety of factors u2022 Exercises judgment within defined procedures and practices to determine appropriate action. u2022 Builds productive internal/external working relationships u2022 Other duties as assigned Experience u2022 2 - 5 years of relevant experience in a software engineering or related field u2022 Strong software engineering skills with proficiency in full stack development including the use of Golang, Rust, Java, and/or Python as well as front-end web frameworks such as Vue u2022 Experience with relational database systems such as PostgreSQL or MySQL u2022 Experience with Ubuntu or other Linux operating systems u2022 Experienced writing unit tests and debugging code u2022 Demonstrated mathematical and analytical skills are required u2022 Demonstrated familiarity with source code configuration management tools such as Git as well as familiarity with IDEs and debuggers Education u2022 A bacheloru2019s degree in computer science or related field is required, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience Additional Requirements u2022 Demonstrates effective listening, questioning, clarifying and summarizing skills to effectively communicate in one-on-one and small group settings u2022 Demonstrates understanding of system design that one is working on and understands the role that assigned tasks play in the system u2022 Able to excel in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment, where small teams share a broad variety of duties u2022 Displays strong initiative and drive to accomplish goals and meet company objectives u2022 Takes ownership and responsibility for current and past work products u2022 Is committed to learning from mistakes and driven to improve and enhance performance of oneself, others, and the company u2022 Has effective problem-solving, analytical, interpersonal and communication skills u2022 Focuses on teamwork, collaboration and puts the success of the team above one's own interests Physical Demands u2022 Ability to work in an office environment (Constant) u2022 Required to stand and sit for long periods; talk, hear, and use hands and fingers to operate a computer and telephone keyboard (Frequent) Special Requirements u2022 U.S. Citizenship required u2022 Ability to obtain at minimum Secret level security clearance; active clearance is a plus u2022 Willingness to travel (Occasionally / Up to 20%) The salary range for this role is: $102,708 - $145,530 AeroVironment considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the location, the role and associated responsibilities, a candidateu2019s work experience, education/training, and key skills.
