There are 27 regional centers in this network across the U.S. with more than 200 participating hospitals. The StrokeNet is designed to serve as the infrastructure and pipeline for exciting new potential treatments for patients with stroke and those at risk for stroke. The University of Minnesota is the regional coordinating center for the Upper Midwest and was awarded a 5-year, renewable grant in 2023. The research coordinator role for StrokeNet in the Department of Neurology encompasses a wide range of skills. RN2 are expected to be able to perform as a Lead coordinator for studies that enroll participants at multiple sites. This coordinator prepares IRB submissions, maintains Delegation of authority logs, consents and enroll subjects, performs patient assessments, collects and enters data and communicates regularly with Study Pl and clinical care team both inpatient and in outpatient clinics. The position is responsible for being the most knowledgeable person on their assigned protocols to oversee the work of colleagues who may be tasked with patient enrollments, patient follow up (blinded assessments) and ensuring that data and research visits are in compliance with the protocol. Duties and Responsibilities: 80%: Serve as lead coordinator on secondary prevention StrokeNet research studies conducted within our local area (UMMC, Fairview Southdale, Ridges) and other sites as necessary for StrokeNet studies. The lead coordinator position manages the day-to-day conduct and execution of their clinical trial. Screen subjects for prevention studies in collaboration with the Pl utilizing the secondary stroke prevention alert and Stroke/NCC screening database. Integration of research elements into the clinical workflow is essential. Meet departmental and sponsor standards/expectations for data entry, accuracy and decision making. With the PI, PM and Clinical leadership, develop logistical plans for new or ongoing studies. Troubleshoot issues during the life of the study. Troubleshooting may include training of inpatient personnel (ED, ICU, neuro floor, clinic), research colleagues, fellows, lab staff, pharmacy staff, and other technologies or departments involved with studies. 10%: Shift-based oversight of the Research Fellows & Research Collaborators for the on-call portfolio of studies. The RN Oversight would provide guidance/oversight to the first & second call fellows and collaborators and be able to place study orders (when needed). This would include on-call differential pay. 10%: Share expertise in the Neurology Department, with others in the secondary stroke coordinator group, and with clinical colleagues that may have different work experience and clinical expertise. Qualifications Required Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Nursing or science related field plus at least two years of relevant experience, or a combination of education and relevant work experience to equal at least six years. Current licensure to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Minnesota. Strong clinical inpatient knowledge. Ability to work flexible hours when needed to complete time sensitive research tasks. Ability to multi-task and work in a complex/dynamic environment. Strong EPIC or EMR skills. Willingness to coach/supervise research fellows & collaborators. Preferred Qualifications: Experience as a research coordinator in Neurology or Neurocritical Care. Experience with database management or electronic data capture systems. Physical and Environmental Requirements/Conditions: Mobility to work in a typical hospital setting. Valid Driver's license with reliable transportation within the metro. Possible exposure to communicable disease and medical preparations in the hospital setting. Ability to demonstrate immune status to measles, mumps, rubella, varicella and hepatitis B. Fairview requires Flu shot vaccination to access hospital facilities.
