We are currently hiring a 2rd shift Pre-PressTechnician/Mounter located in Madison, WI. JOB SUMMARY The Pre-PressTechnician/Mounter plays a critical role in the production process bypreparing and mounting flexographic printing plates for use on aprinting press. This position ensures that all plates, sleeves, andrelated materials are properly prepared, aligned, and maintained toachieve consistent, high-quality print results. The Pre-PressTechnician/Mounter works closely with press operators and thegraphics/pre-press team to ensure accuracy, reduce downtime, and supportoverall pressroom efficiency. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Plate Mounting& Setup Precisely mount flexographic plates onto printing cylinders orsleeves for Allstein and PCMC press operations, and other flexographicpresses Utilize mounting equipment and optical systems to ensureaccurate registration and alignment Inspect and verify plates againstproduction specifications, color proofs, and job tickets Pre-PressPreparation Prepare and organize mounting tapes, sleeves, and cylindersprior to press runs Coordinate with pre-press graphics to ensure properplate layouts and separations Maintain digital files, proofs, andsupporting documentation for job setup Quality Control & TroubleshootingConduct quality checks on all mounted plates for accuracy, damage, ordefects Troubleshoot pre-press issues to minimize press downtime andwaste Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance accuracy andproductivity Maintenance & Recordkeeping Properly clean, label, andstore plates, sleeves, and cylinders Maintain accurate logs of mountedjobs, plate inventory, and material usage Assist with preventativemaintenance and care of pre-press equipment and tools Maintainappropriate records of tests, inspection results, and observationsNotify production personnel of deviations in product quality. Markdeviant products appropriately Assist with set-up and clean-up of allpresses when machine is down Help sites meet quality objectives Otherduties as assigned REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS High school diploma orequivalent required; technical training in printing or graphicspreferred Minimum of 2 years' experience in pre-press, flexographicplate mounting, or related printing industry role Experience workingwith wide-web flexographic presses; Allstein or PCMC press experiencepreferred Strong attention to detail, hand-eye coordination, andmechanical aptitude Ability to interpret job tickets, proofs, andtechnical specifications accurately Computer literacy; familiarity withplate management software is a plus Physical ability to lift and handleprinting sleeves/cylinders weighing up to 50 lbs LANGUAGE SKILLS Abilityto read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating andmaintenance instructions and procedure manuals. Ability to write routinereports and legibly complete time cards and work orders. Ability toread, analyze, and interpret technical procedures and read blueprintsand technical drawings, such as machine, mechanical, pneumatic,hydraulic, and electrical. Ability to effectively present information inone-on-one and small groups situations to other employees of theorganization. Ability to effective present information and respond toquestions form groups of managers, clients, customers, and the generalpublic. MATHEMATICAL SKILLS Ability to add, subtract, multiply anddivide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions,and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent. Ability toapply concepts of basic lgebra, geometry, fractions, percentages,ratios, and proportions to practical situations. REASONING ABILITYAbility to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variablein situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability tointerpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram,or schedule form. Ability to define problems, collect data, establishfacts, and draw valid conclusions.
