Job Title: Research and Development Specialist - Advanced (Endpoint Engineering Services) Location: San Antonio, TX Clearance: Secret Education: BS in Computer Science related field or A BBA in the same technical field or Military Experience or CISSP Certification: Microsoft Certified: Cyber Security Architect Expert or Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert Job Description: The Endpoint Engineering Research & Development (R&D) Specialist provides advanced design, prototyping, and innovation support to the DHA Domain and Directory Services Branch (DDSB). This role drives the evaluation, testing, and integration of emerging endpoint technologies to support DHAu2019s transition toward Zero Trust, cloud-native management, and enterprise modernization. The Endpoint Engineering R&D Specialist ensures DHA stays at the forefront of endpoint technology innovation, enabling secure, scalable, and cloud-native device management solutions. By validating emerging technologies and aligning them with DHAu2019s modernization roadmap, this role enhances endpoint security, reliability, and mission readiness across the Military Health System. Key Responsibilities: + Research and evaluate next-generation endpoint management solutions (e.g., Intune Autopilot, cloud-native imaging, virtualization, and containerized application delivery) for enterprise adoption. + Prototype and test endpoint security and compliance innovations, including Microsoft Defender for Endpoint (MDE), BitLocker, conditional access, and advanced telemetry. + Develop and validate new enterprise imaging and packaging strategies, including cross-platform solutions for Windows, macOS, iOS, and mobile devices. + Create and sustain pilot environments and proof-of-concept labs to evaluate endpoint scalability, patch management automation, and Zero Trust integration. + Provide R&D white papers, technical assessments, and recommendations to guide enterprise endpoint modernization initiatives. + Support the design and deployment of endpoint monitoring and compliance dashboards leveraging Power BI and other analytics tools for proactive health and performance insights. + Collaborate with EM Administration, Identity, and IA engineering teams to align endpoint innovation with DHAu2019s Zero Trust and enterprise modernization strategy. + Develops: + Endpoint R&D test reports, white papers, and solution recommendations + Proof-of-concept builds and pilot environment documentation + Prototype enterprise images, packages, and automation workflows + Endpoint performance and compliance evaluation reports
