JOB REQUIREMENTS: Position Description: Department: Pediatrics Division:Pediatric Emergency Medicine The Medical College of Wisconsin'sDepartment of Pediatrics, Division of Pediatric Emergency Medicine, isseeking a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to provide theassessment and care coordination for pediatric emergency patients andfamilies and for assuring high standards and efficient care across thecare continuum, participating in quality improvement, education andresearch. This position is located in Milwaukee, WI at Children'sWisconsin - Milwaukee Campus. The Advanced Practice Provider (APP) worksas a member of a multidisciplinary health care team who will contributeto excellence in program administration, patient care, patient safety,research, quality improvement, and teaching. Position Highlights: Order,perform and interpret screening and diagnostic procedures and test andappropriately communicate and document information. Acquire informationon the most current developments and trends in the NursePractitioner/Physician Assistant fields in pediatric emergency medicinethrough educational programs, in-services, professional associations andliterature. Participate in quality improvement activities, researchinitiatives and/or clinical trials as directed by the pediatricemergency medicine leadership Perform procedures including suturing,splinting, abscess drainage, child sexual abuse exams and lumbarpunctures. Core Advanced Practice Responsibilities: Performscomprehensive histories and physical exams, identifies normal andabnormal findings, including physical, cognitive and psychosocialstatus. Orders and interprets laboratory and diagnostic tests. Developspharmaceutical and non-pharmaceutical treatment plans. Monitorseffectiveness of plan of care. Educates patients on disease andtreatment plans. Performs procedures as trained and appropriatelycredentialed. Documents within the EMR and completes other necessarydocuments. Collaborates and/or consults with physicians and other healthcare team members as appropriate. Educates, counsels, and assistspatients and families regarding current health problems, healthmaintenance activities and preventive treatments as needed. Assists inthe education and training of medical trainees including residents andstudents. Schedule: Full time role with expectations for coverage during24 hours/day, 7 days a week, including holidays and flexibility requiredas necessary to accommodate ED coverage.
