We are looking for an outside seller to help take us to the next level. If you've got what it takes, we'd love to talk with you. In our role, you'll partner with an experienced inside sales team that has strong product, vendor, and system knowledge to satisfy our current customers as well as gain new ones. We'll look to you to function as a business development expert, building relationships with customers throughout your territory.More About Your RoleYou will be responsible for building a territory and growing earnings by developing repeat relationships in existing accounts and opening new business. Use your consultative selling approach when calling on engineers, purchasing, and others to learn about your customers' applications and analyze their needs.Achieve sales and profit goals by developing existing customers, opening new business, and customer retentionConduct sales and service activities, develop strong customer relationships, identify product applications, and introduce new products and servicesPartner with manufacturer reps and our support team to help spec in products / systems that will enhance customer performancePrepare quotes and proposals, follow up and negotiate terms, and close transactionsOrganize and conduct training sessions for customers, survey market and competitive conditionsComplete reports regarding itineraries, expenses, sales calls, leads and other related reportsMonitor customer complaints, follow up on outstanding orders, and make emergency calls, night calls, and deliveries as requiredPOSITION REQUIREMENTS6 months+ knowledge of fluid power components, systems, & applications and/or 1+ year industrial sales experienceBasic computer skillsHands-on product demonstrations for customers and prospects; mechanical aptitudeHigh school diploma or equivalentValid driver's license and satisfactory driving recordPreferred:Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Business, or equivalent3+ years of sales experience in similar industriesFluid Power certificationDesired characteristics:Self starter and self-motivatedRelationship-building skills at all levels with customers and prospect organizationsPlanning and organization skillsEffective listening, negotiating, communication (verbal and written) skillsFounded in 1923, Applied Industrial Technologies (NYSE: AIT) is a leading value-added distributor and technical solutions provider of industrial motion, fluid power, flow control, automation technologies, and related maintenance supplies.
