Cable Technician

Responsibilities & Qualifications RESPONSIBILITIES + Familiar with BICSI rules, regulations, and standards. + Knowledge in the use of network cabling test equipment including network testers, copper cable testers, fiber OTDRs and fiber power meters. + Analyze, administer, and maintain telecommunications and network cabling infrastructure. + Ensure the baseline configuration of all network assets and point-to-point circuits, are documented, and configured according to DoD and JSP engineering standards. + Ensure all systems are properly baselined, tested, and validated in accordance with DISAu2019s STIG prior to deployment. + Conduct regular audits and quality checks to ensure accuracy and completeness of network assets and configurations. + Use cable testing equipment, such as cable testers, multimeters, and optical power meters. + Familiarity with cable management techniques to ensure neat and organized cable runs. + Provide a basic understanding of IP networking concepts, including TCP/IP, subnetting, and VLANs. + Ability to work at heights and in confined spaces, adhering to safety protocols at all times. + Analyze, administer, and maintain telecommunications and network cabling infrastructure. + Dress, terminate, and test cables and components. + Ability to work with power tools and ladders. + Test, locate, install, and repair cabling infrastructure associated with trouble calls, and perform routine maintenance. + Install, maintain, and repair voice and data communications systems. + Identify, track, and remove abandoned cable, and keep cable neatly tied and bundled while maintaining safety standards.
