Requisition ID: 178180 Job Level: Mid Level Home District/Group: Marine & Heavy Civil District Department: Field Operations Market: Marine Employment Type: Full Time Position Overview As a field engineer with TIC Marine & Heavy Civil, you will be a critical member of the construction team. Supervising subcontractors and self-perform work on our marine & infrastructure projects. District Overview TIC Marine and Heavy Civil self-performs marine projects with company-owned equipment for both the public and private sector, historically focusing on the southeast coast. Our construction operations are supported by our in-house equipment department, fabrication facility and machine shop to streamline projects for our owners. Using our own equipment and fabrication facility allow us to maintain control over critical scopes, ensuring that the project stays on schedule. Past heavy-civil experiences include cast in place concrete, steel, box beam, flat slab, railroad trestle and arch bridges, bridge widening, bascule and swing bridges, box culverts, storm drainage, erosion control, dike and levee construction, concrete paving, tunnels and sound barriers. Our Marine experience includes lock and dam repairs, docks, demolition, Navy wharfs, water intake structures, steel, concrete, composite and timber piling, fender systems, dolphins, piers, dredging, marinas and LNG facilities Location Savannah GA or Jacksonville FL Responsibilities Field Engineering: u2022 Assist in the interpretation of drawings and specifications for field crews and craft supervision u2022 Perform quantity calculations by taking measurements and determining the percentage of completed/installed materials and work u2022 Assist in the preparation of work plans and work packages u2022 Assist in field surveying and work layout support, including elevation, control points, and compilation of as-built data u2022 Assist in compiling, processing, and confirming daily labor timesheets u2022 Assist in the preparation of Job Hazard Analysis (JHAu2019s) u2022 Participate in job site safety reviews, toolbox meetings, mass safety meetings, and safety training u2022 Order and schedule material deliveries u2022 Plan, schedule, and coordinate work groups on the job site u2022 Supervise field operations Office Engineering: u2022 Perform material takeoffs from drawings, specifications, and other contract documents u2022 Perform basic engineering calculations and technical drafting to support field operations u2022 Assist Engineers to gather and prepare data for submittal or transmittal to the customer, vendors, subcontractors, governmental agencies, and internal use u2022 Assist in the preparation of purchase orders and subcontracts, performing minor solicitations and purchasing as requested u2022 Assist in scheduling maintenance and performing updates as directed by others u2022 Assist in the maintenance of basic project recordkeeping and correspondence functions, including daily reports, photographs, requests for information (RFIs), and memorandums u2022 Assist with entering data into the job cost system and participate in reviewing cost reports with job site management u2022 Assist in generating change orders and as-built data to be reviewed by the Project Manager u2022 Provide field support and supervise subcontractor operations Estimating: u2022 Assist in reviewing and analyzing historical data relative to the project, incorporating various productions and costs appropriate in preparation of a bid u2022 Complete a plan and specification review for an assigned project, assessing the risk areas and bringing them to the attention of the Senior Estimator u2022 Complete material and quantity takeoffs according to bid documents Qualifications u2022 Degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a closely related degree u2022 1 - 3 years of experience working in Infrastructure/Heavy Civil construction environment preferred u2022 Interest in heavy civil/marine construction, such as marine, bridges, canals, dams, tunnels, earthwork, structural concrete, pipelines, etc. u2022 Committed to the construction industry and not the design industry- this is a hands-on, construction career u2022 Knowledge and passion for construction safety- OSHA certification preferred u2022 Must be willing to relocate throughout career u2022 The ability to access all points of a construction site in wide-ranging climates, environments, and terrain u2022 Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications u2022 Strong organizational, time management, and multi-tasking skills u2022 Strong written and verbal communication skills u2022 Good attention to detail, with the ability to recognize discrepancies u2022 Strong work ethic - willing to do what it takes to get the job done.
