Description: The School of Nursing, within the Hairston College of Health and Human Sciences at North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University, is seeking an assistant/associate professor whose teaching and scholarly research agenda is focused on Psychiatric Mental Health Nursing. The primary purpose of this role is to provide student-centered teaching and clinical instruction of undergraduate and graduate-level courses. Faculty in this role will provide student advising, student mentoring and recruitment, curriculum development, and engagement in program assessment accreditation-related procedures. The ideal candidate will be expected to: (i) incorporate modern pedagogical skills in teaching nursing courses to undergraduate and graduate courses in psychiatric mental health nursing, (ii) supervise and support student projects for the Doctor of Nursing Practice ( DNP program, and (ii)i provide service to the SON , the college and university as well as to appropriate community and professional organizations. This is a 12-month, non-tenure-track position. Candidate must hold a doctoral degree in nursing and demonstrate pedagogical skills to teach in areas relevant to PMHNP . Candidate must hold a current unrestricted license as a registered nurse in North Carolina or have eligibility to obtain a North Carolina Registered Nurse License and must hold a national certification of APRN as Certified Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner ( PMHNP ). The John R. and Kathy R. Hairston College of Health and Human Sciences ( HCHHS ) comprises six departments and the School of Nursing. The HCHHS offers the following undergraduate degree programs; Communication Sciences and Disorders, Health Services Management, Kinesiology, Nursing, Psychology, Social Work, and Sociology. At the graduate level, HCHHS offers four graduate degree programs including the Master in Physician Assistant Studies (PA program), Master of Social Work ( MSW ), Master of Science in Health Psychology, and Ph.D in Social Work. Three additional doctoral programs are being developed; Doctor of Nurse Practice ( DNP ), PhD in Applied Psychology, and PhD in Sociology. The HCHHS is also home to the Center of Excellence in Integrative Health Disparities and Equity Research ( CIHDER ), a hub for multidisciplinary research and community engagement efforts to alleviate health inequities. The HCHHS capitalizes on the synergistic relationships between these departments to develop advanced academic programming, enhance the mentoring of trainees, and conduct collaborative multidisciplinary research and scholastic activity.
