Auria is looking to hire a Software Developer to support development of the Protected Tactical Enterprise System (PTES) mission. This role is ONSITE in Colorado Springs, CO.The ideal candidate will perform software development tasks to deliver new products and services to the PTES Mission Planning (MP) component of the Mission Management System (MMS). This position involves developing microservices, integrating complex systems, and applying optimization strategies in a distributed, containerized environment.WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT TO DO:Develop, deploy, and test software using Java and related frameworks as part of Agile workflowsCollaborate closely with system engineers, testers, and support personnel to ensure objectives are metSupport integration of external/internal interfaces and conduct system troubleshootingProvide technical recommendations and deliver solution architecture presentations to stakeholdersWHAT THE TEAM REQUIRES:BS/BA in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field(Engineer Level 3): Bachelor's degree and 7+ years relevant experience, Master's degree and 4+ years relevant experience(Engineer Level 4): Bachelor's degree and 12+ years of experience, Master's with 9+ years of experienceActive U.S. Government SECRET security clearance (requires U.S. Citizenship)Strong experience in Java and object-oriented programming principlesSolid understanding of core software engineering concepts, including:Object comparison, class constructors, and data structuresJava memory management and garbage collection (G1GC, ZGC tuning)Checked vs. unchecked exceptions and their use casesJava Agents for monitoring/profilingUse of Comparable vs Comparator interfacesWeak vs. soft referencesExperience debugging software and modifying legacy or existing codeFamiliarity with Agile development tools (e.g., Jira, Confluence, Git)Experience managing microservices using Docker and RancherStrong communication and interpersonal skillsWHAT THE TEAM PREFERS:Strong experience with Java Streams and advanced data manipulationProficiency in building event-driven architectures using Kafka and Kafka StreamsExperience with Kubernetes for container orchestrationExperience with Quarkus and/or Spring frameworks for developing microservicesFamiliarity with constraint-solving optimization libraries such as OptaPlanner or TimeFoldProficiency using Maven for Java build automation and dependency managementExperience using Helm for packaging and deploying Kubernetes applicationsAbility to reason through and implement logic for merging/splitting overlapping date intervalsUnderstanding of RESTful API design, including idempotency considerations and safe retry handlingPAY TRANSPARENCY: The salary offered will be based on the selected candidate's qualifications - skills, education & experience - and the position level. $94,000 - $150,000APPLICATION DEADLINE: The deadline to apply to this role is November 27, 2025.THE AURIA TEAM:Auria is a provider of solutions and software in support of complex Space, National Security, and Cyber missions of federal, international, and commercial customers.
