This unique approach allows members of our campus community to share a rhythm of experience as we work together to fulfill our mission.Job SummaryAs an HVAC Mechanic, you'll play a key role in keeping our facilities running smoothly by installing, troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration systems. This position is essential to ensuring a safe, comfortable, and efficient environment for our students, staff, and visitors.Responsibilitiesu2022 Initiate, plan, schedule and complete in-house projects concerning repair, replacement, and capital improvement projects of HVAC and refrigeration systems.u2022 Provide technical design review for department projects.u2022 Perform HVAC and refrigeration preventative maintenance as required.u2022 Troubleshoot, repair and maintain refrigeration equipment systems in support of campus food service programs and operations.u2022 Utilize the college's computerized maintenance management system, TMA, to track and prioritize scheduled preventive maintenance, repair, and project work related to HVAC mechanical and refrigeration systems; maintain accurate records in TMA daily; support the department's strategic initiative of spending at least 50% of time on scheduled work.u2022 Proactively collaborate with customers and other trades shops to complete projects, preventative maintenance and repairs.u2022 Prioritize and respond to emergency requests for systems adjustments from campus.u2022 Support campus sustainability goals and energy measures; analyze and assess current and emerging technologies and make recommendations for improvements.u2022 Respond to after-hours emergency calls as required by HVAC Shop On-call Response program.u2022 Actively support the college's commitment to be an antiracist institution by understanding, engaging with, and promoting diversity, inclusion, and equity in the college community.u2022 Promote a culture of safety and environmental protection by working in a safe manner; immediately reporting unsafe situations and accidents; following college procedures; and participating in appropriate safety training.u2022 Demonstrate environmental sustainability by using college resources wisely and supporting the college's sustainability initiatives and innovation.u2022 Perform other duties as assigned.Minimum Qualificationsu2022 High School/GED diploma plus a minimum of three years of related experience;u2022 Mechanic IV License or must obtain one within the first 90 days of employment;u2022 HVAC Degree or Certification and an EPA Refrigerant Technician Certification;u2022 Strong working knowledge of HVAC and refrigeration systems;u2022 Proficient with computer software programs such as Microsoft Word and Excel;u2022 Experience using computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS);u2022 Excellent oral and written communication skills;u2022 Ability to communicate effectively and develop positive relationships with people from different cultural backgrounds;u2022 Ability to think critically and solve problems;u2022 Good judgment, organizational and customer service skills;u2022 Ability to operate standard office equipment and small hand tools.Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license and a driving record that is insura le by Colorado College's motor vehicle insurance carrier.Physical requirements include finger and wrist dexterity and hand/eye coordination to perform keyboard functions; moderate physical effort (usually lifting/moving up to 50 pounds, occasionally up to 100 pounds); walking, standing, carrying of loads up and down stairs, reaching and/or grasping, stooping, kneeling, bending, crawling, and crouching, pushing and/or pulling; must work outdoors in all weather conditions; exposure to noisy or dusty conditions, mechanical, electrical and/or other hazards chemicals and solvents.Preferred Qualificationsu2022 Experience using TMA work order management system software;u2022 5 years of mechanical construction experience;u2022 Strong working knowledge of variable refrigerant flow (VRF) systems.Applicants are welcome to apply even if you do not meet the preferred qualifications.
