Academic Professional Track (Non-Tenure): Senior Lecturer and Director of the Tax Dispute Resolution Clinic Law Location Fort Worth, TX Open Date 9/17/2025 Position ID 169090 Description Texas A&M University School of Law invites applications for a faculty (non-tenure-accruing) position in our clinical program. This is a full-time 11-month position and is partially funded by a grant. Applicants will be considered for the faculty title of Senior Lecturer. The anticipated start would be in the spring semester of 2026. The successful candidate will serve as a Senior Lecturer and the Director of the law schoolu2019s Tax Dispute Resolution Clinic, part of the IRS Low-Income Taxpayer Clinic (LITC) program, and will be responsible for all aspects of the clinic. The Senior Lecturer will practice law, work with other clinic attorneys, and teach and supervise clinic students to represent low-income or ESL (English as a Second Language) taxpayers in client matters before the IRS or the U.S. Tax Court. Responsibilities: u00b7 Trains and supervises law students with practical instruction in federal tax law, IRS regulations and procedures, and Tax Court rules and procedures. u00b7 Provides law students with training in core lawyering skills necessary to carry out client representation, including interviewing and counseling, fact investigation, strategy, negotiation, and advocacy. u00b7 Reviews, edits, and approves substantive written work product by students. u00b7 Represents clients and handles client workload when students are not available. u00b7 Oversees educational activities for low-income and ESL taxpayers and conducts general advocacy for improvements to the tax administration process. u00b7 Ensure compliance with all requirements of the IRS LITC program, including numeric goals. Prepares grant applications, reports on financial and service results, and attends an annual national conference for LITCs. u00b7 Upholds and enhances the reputation of TAMU Law and its clinical program by working with clients, community partners, students and the IRS in a respectful and ethical manner. u00b7 Provides organizational and administrative support in law clinic operations, including community and donor relations. Qualifications Required: + Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree + Active membership in the Texas Bar, or eligibility for admission without examination (waiver) into the Texas Bar + A working knowledge of federal tax procedure + Relevant legal practice experience Preferred: + Three or more years of legal experience, including federal tax controversy, is strongly preferred + Experience working with low-income or ESL taxpayers is strongly preferred + Experience teaching or supervising either law students or young lawyers is preferred + Admission to practice before the U.S. Tax Court is preferred + Prior clinical teaching experience is advantageous, but not essential Application Instructions Applicants must submit a cover letter, CV, Personal Statement to include philosophy and plans for teaching and service, and three professional references to /173647 Questions regarding this position should be sent to Lori Rogde at
