Education: u00b7 Highschool or equivalent u00b7 Valid driver's license u00b7 Authorized to work in the United States Experience: u00b7 Experience and proficiency working with standard laborer tools such as (but not limited to): sledgehammers, shovels, brooms, vacuums, pressure washers and general hand tools. u00b7 Boat operation and barge experience preferred u00b7 Prior general/skilled labor experience a plus u00b7 Concrete experience preferred Skills: u00b7 Honest, trustworthy, dependable. u00b7 Punctual. Must arrive at work by the designated start time. u00b7 Must have a safety-first attitude. Strict adherence to safety requirements and procedures is required u00b7 Must display a professional and courteous attitude to co-workers, supervisors, and the general public at all times. u00b7 Ability to work diligently while under time restraints. Willing to accept change. u00b7 Ability to communicate well as part of a small team and work cooperatively with other colleagues. u00b7 Ability to give and receive, understand, respond, and follow verbal and written communication and instructions. Responsibilities: u00b7 Operate and care for construction equipment and machines. u00b7 Prep construction sites by cleaning obstacles and hazards. u00b7 Load, unload, or identify building materials, machinery, or tools, distributing them to the appropriate locations, according to project plans or specifications. u00b7 Measure, mark, or record openings or distances to layout areas where construction work will be performed. u00b7 Dig ditches or trenches, backfill excavations, or compact and level earth to grade specifications, using picks, shovels, pneumatic tampers, or rakes. u00b7 Mix, pour, or spread concrete, using portable cement mixers. u00b7 Tend pumps, compressors, or generators to provide power for tools, machinery, or equipment or to heat or move materials, such as asphalt. u00b7 Erect or dismantle scaffolding, shoring, braces, traffic barricades, ramps, or other temporary structures. u00b7 Sweeps and cleans the project site. u00b7 Carries lumber and supplies to Carpenters u00b7 Helps carpenters assemble concrete forms u00b7 Assists welders when needed u00b7 Works with cranes and rigging u00b7 Acts as signal person for the equipment operators u00b7 Chips, paints, sweeps, and washes down equipment on the job site u00b7 Safely secure the work area to allow only authorized personnel onto work zone u00b7 Loads and unloads materials from, deck barges, and miscellaneous equipment u00b7 Provide assistance to craft workers, such as carpenters, plasterers, or masons. u00b7 Performs other duties as required. Physical Demands / Working Environment: u00b7 Work is performed in the field and in all-weather condition u00b7 Must be able to perform physical activities that require considerable use of your arms and legs and moving your whole body, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and handling of materials up to 75 pounds. u00b7 Ability able to tolerate, vibrations, heat, and high noise levels u00b7 Able to safely execute duties in and round heavy equipment/large machinery in marine dredging and marine construction job sites u00b7 Able to wear the personal protective equipment (PPE) required of various construction work environments (hard hats, safety glasses, personal flotation devices, respirators, etc. Hourly Rates: u00b7 $25-$45/per hour u00b7 Pay is commensurate on experience Benefits: Ballard offers a strong benefit package and provides a culture that values opportunity for growth, development, and internal promotion.
