A Brief Overview Responsible for assisting the physician in caring for the patient and family in accordance with organization protocols, policies and procedures. Essential Functions + Assists in the assessment of the health status of individuals including the delivery of patient care to patients and families under the direction of RN or LPN. u2022 Performs treatments, procedures, diagnostic testing and medication/immunization administration in a compassionate manner under the direction of a licensed practitioner. u2022 Collects data regarding patientu2019s vital signs and growth and development when interviewing patients/families in the office. u2022 Coordinates the scheduling of diagnostic tests and procedures with the patient/family, physicians/hospitals and the insurance companies as directed by the provider. u2022 Assists the physician or nurse practitioner in patient teaching as directed or according to clinic protocol. u2022 Demonstrates knowledge and delivers suitable care tailored to the corresponding stage of the life cycle. u2022 Completes all required patient care documentation and reporting in accurate and timely manner within the electronic medical record. u2022 Responds appropriately in crisis situations or life threatening emergencies. u2022 Takes direction from the physician or nurse practitioner in the delivery on patient care. u2022 Assists with clerical duties as directed by the office manager. + Regular attendance at work is an essential function of the job. + Perform physical requirements as described in the Physical Requirements section Education Qualifications + Completion of a Medical Assistant Program or current and valid national certification as a Medical Assistant (NCMA) Required Skills and Abilities + Excellent oral and written communication skills Licenses and Certifications + Current and valid Medication Aide Registration with the Nebraska State Medication Aide Registry if working in Nebraska Upon Hire Required and + BLS - Basic Life Support through the American Heart Association Required and + Certified Medical Assistant (CMA)-AAMA Preferred + Travel to other CP or Specialty Clinics (or other Ambulatory clinics) as needed Required Childrenu2019s is an equal opportunity employer, embracing and valuing the unique strengths and differences of people.
