A Brief Overview Supervises and has 24-hour accountability for Sterile Processing in order to accomplish organizational and departmental strategic goals and objectives. Supervises and operates the Sterile Processing area and all of its related systems in an efficient, effective manner. This includes decontamination, inspection, cleaning, assembly, and packaging of all reusable linens, instruments, and medical/surgical equipment for Children's Hospital. Is responsible for the orientation, training, and education of all the Sterile Processing personnel, to ensure that they meet the core competencies of their position. Working under the supervision of the Manager Distribution Services, the Supervisor monitors compliance with department policies and procedures, collaborates with other departments, and utilizes the Materials Management Inventory System to track inventory items and issues for the Operation Room, Anesthesia, Procedure Room and OR Sterile Core Essential Functions + u2022 Monitors compliance with policies and procedures, AAMI guidelines, infection control policies, and other regulatory agencies, (JCAHO). u25e6 Directs the preparation of sterile supplies, instruments and equipment. Coordinates the routine activities of the Sterile Processing staff, plans and schedules work for the group. u25e6 Responsible for tracking sterile processing data, performance improvement documentation, and administrative records. u25e6 Maintains an adequate level of instruments in circulation, reordering replacements when necessary, and schedule and control all instrumentation repairs in a cost effective and efficient manner. u25e6 Serves as the administrator of the SPM instrument tracking system, is expert in all facets of its operation, maintains and updates the data base as necessary, produces monthly reports and documentation as requested by Distribution Manager and Director of Materials Management. u25e6 Coordinates and ensures CEUu2019s are available for staff to maintain current certification status. u25e6 Mentors and provides guidance to staff for continued development and expectations of the department. + u2022 Coordinates and supervises department functions to ensure service quality and continuity of care. u2022 Personnel Management u25e6 Prioritizes and coordinates daily work activities. Provides leadership and guidance by sharing expertise with others. Approves schedules and monitors time worked. u25e6 Trains and/or oversees the training of employees on job related tasks. u25e6 Conducts employee performance management duties including completion and delivery of performance evaluations, setting goals, dissemination of information, coaching, addressing performance issues/routine correction actions, and recommending termination of employment. u25e6 Submits notifications for personnel actions (e.g., status changes, terminations). u25e6 May participate in selection, hiring, and salary recommendations. u2022 Operational/Financial Management u25e6 Ensures cost effective use of resources by identifying and implementing changes related to staff allocation and assignment, and patient/department supplies. u25e6 Ensures compliance with quality assurance, safety practices, policies and recordkeeping standards. u25e6 May assist with the development and maintenance of policies and procedures. u25e6 May participate in the implementation of business plans for the area. u25e6 May assist with annual budget by tracking expenses and providing input for future budget needs. + Regular attendance at work is an essential function of the job. + Perform physical requirements as described in the Physical Requirements section Education Qualifications + High School Diploma or G.E.D Required and + Associate's Degree from an accredited college or university in science, or related field Preferred Experience Qualifications + Minimum 3 years of healthcare Sterile Processing or Surgical Technologist experience Required and + Minimum 1 yearu2019s supervisory experience preferred, preferably in a healthcare setting Preferred Skills and Abilities + Position requires analytical abilities to resolve employee and process problems. + Interpersonal skills necessary to educate, motivate, and coordinate employee performance.
