Summary This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program, a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific eligibility requirements per VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Responsibilities The VA New York Harbor Healthcare System (NYHHCS) is a multi-site medical system that includes a major medical facility in Manhattan, Brooklyn, St. Albans campus in Queens, and two Community Based Outpatient Clinics (CBOCs). VA NYHHCS is an academic facility with teaching and research programs. This Psychiatrist position is located in the Mental Health Service at the Brooklyn VA Medical Center. This position supports the Network's mission to care for our Veterans with compassion and excellence. Each Psychiatrist functions as a cooperative and collegial team member with the entire staff. Major duties and responsibilities include: Serves as psychiatry consultant to inpatient acute med/surg services Serves as consulting psychiatrist to Primary Care Medical Home model as part of Primary Care/Mental Health Integration May participate in supervision and teaching in support of the psychiatric residency program, performs on call duties, and performs other directly related duties as assigned. Participates effectively in team meetings and treatment planning conferences, and collaborates with multidisciplinary team members that enhances coordination of comprehensive patient care.
